So because you are a biker and he is a biker you think you have the right to bollick him? If you did that to me I would tell you to get fucked. Would love to see you go up to a Hells Angel or someone of a big persuasion and give them a bollicking about their lack of gear.

Good for you. I do that sort of thing sometimes too.
This bloke wasn't just riding to the shop - he was communtering to work, and on his way to the D'Auckland CBD. That means he was participating in The Wacky Races. He was obviously not au fait with the rules (unless he was a last-minute novelty entry.

I agree. I'd actually hate to see mandation (yeah, ferktifiknow if it's a word either) - it leads to giving the Faceless Grey-faced Grey-suited Bureaucrats more power. Fukkim I say.

I'm pro-choice. Some lessons are harder than others, but still have to be learnt. Most people only learn by doing.
    I wasn't worrying. Just bemused.

And no, I didn't try'n drag him off.
    Pity - I would've won.

That sounds more like a problem with the system, than a problem with freedom of choice. Simple if it bothers you that much, then campaign for ACC to only cover riders wearing full protection. But don't make it illegal to not wear full gear. I like to pick and choose my moments of weakness, and ride accordingly.

And every other knobend that can't drive a car, ride a push bike - or breaks a collar bone adventure riding up some track that only an obvious knobend would try and ride up.

It's all relative - pay the tax and get over it. Mr Road Rash is a miniscule component in the cost of stupidity pool.

Riding my 675 - full gear. Riding my wifes scooter - a lot less - open face helmet, work clothes, shoes and a casual leather jacket. It's not all one-sided. Sitting up right on a scooter with an open faced helmet, I can see a lot more than crouched over on the Daytona with a full face helmet.

If I come off on the road, yep I'll possibly get hurt more, but then cycling to work in lycra with a helmet than is more holes than it is helmet, I'm a lot more exposed and am travelling at aound 30-35ks on the flat and 50ks down hill, so not too different to the scooter commute.

ACC component of my Bike or scooter $166.50. ACC charge for sitting at a desk typing on a computer for a year - around $1,800. Where's the risk and who's paying for who here.

If we make ACC only for ATGATT riders, does that mean the health system would only be for skinny blokes that exercise and don't smoke?

Nope, he's had a long recovery, and is able to walk again with a stick, but I don't know if he'll ride again. He's got a 350Z that hes probably going to modify and get to the track. Haven't seen him since last year when he was in hospital, only been in touch by email, and he doesn't give away much. I'll get more out of him when I see him within the next month.

I had my own life problems (woman and life's expectations) and had to get away for a bit. But I'm better and coming back.

Good to hear that you are both on the road to recovery!

Once Helen and the Nanny State were voted out I thought all the hand holding threads would stop.Maybe all the polls were wrong and this site is really full of Labour supporters.
