That's not what I meant. There is no excuse. The point is that it is not clear who did this and why.

I would guess the motive is to create a sentiment for or against some group, something and or someone. Take the time to give that some careful thought. It's the least anyone can do for those poor people who suffered at the hands of these animals.

Motives, the groups they belong to, the colour of their skin, their religion: all this is, in the final analysis, IRRELEVENT.
It's the same thing all around the world - the main perpetrators are young, disaffected men, often unemployed, looking for some aggro. Too much testosterone, a bad attitude, and not much to do. In NZ, they get drunk, get into fights, or go Boi Racing or go do wheelies on their bikes: to show how big their penises are.

I for one am not the least surprised that the Muslims of the Deccan hate the Indian government, which claimed for itself the independence that they denied others, and which cemented that claim with the blood of 100000 Muslims, and the annexation of a state with several centuries of history. All with the overt support of the UP and USA governments. If I were a Hyderabadi Muslim, I'd be supporting them , even if I didn't join up.
