Hey Dion, I don't recall if I got round to thanking you for those faxes you sent me. Anyway they sure did the trick at the dealers and the rings and valve guide seals were replaced. Did an 1800 km run last weekend, bike got a serious workout keeping up with various fast bikes including a 950 KTM and performed really well, with the oil habit now well under control (the KTM used more oil than the killer)

Yeah go for it, the more you do on the KLX, the more you'll want to do - its a fun little bike for sure!

I upgraded to orange. The KTM adventure is my Dream bike. A refined Beast of a bike. Like anything. The longer you know them, the more you understand how they work, or how to ride em! First photo at the church of the good shepherd at Tekapo. The second on the way there over the Hakataramea Pass. Nice fast gravel. The Ktm likes!

Hey ridgididgi How do you find the adv compared to the KLR? It would be interesting to hear the comparison from someone who has actually owned the bikes. Obviously heaps more power but handling? Does the KTM feel heavy or lighter in comparison? Comfort? wind protection etc. If the KLR didn't have the probs would you have got rid of it after riding it for a few months?

Hey Padimadimeimei! To be totally honest if the KLR had worked out OK I would still be riding it. I wanted a value for money Adventure bike, and that is what it is.............I would have also been dreaming of something better......thats the KTM adventure for me.

I had the KLR for 9 troubled months. I got to ride 8000km's in total inbetween all the shit. What I decided was that offroad it was what I was after, but on road I wanted something capable of long road rides in between offroad.

Only really 2 choices, you guessed it the KTM or the Beemer 1200 gs. The beemer I felt was not for me. then I made the mistake of test riding a KTM 990. Never looked back after. Fitted me like a glove!

Yeah its not cheap, but it is quality. Same weight as the KLR. Of course the KLR is a 650 compared to the 990. the KTM is so well balanced. Great on road and kick arse off road. Comfort, well for me the KTM seat is pretty good for me.Better than the KLR.

Wind protection better on the KTM but still get abit of wind buffetting around the head but not to bad.
I think the KLR is a great bike for the price. The KLR will forgive you as well. The KTM you have to respect it. My skill level is rising, but at one step at a time.

I am very happy with where I am at now. Its been an interesting path. I was so wild for a while with the KLR and the knob of a dealer.thank goodness for the motor vehicle disputes tribunal.

Even when I ride the KTM to work it gives me a great lift! Its one hell of a bike!

Which one the, the "pink"

one (XT600Z) or the scratched and beaten blue one (XTZ750).

Wifey and I did 300ish kms on the XTZ750 in the weekend and we knew all about it. Cramped and a little uncomfortable but it will have to do for the moment. Love the engine though. Super silky power delivery that just keeps coming. Great for hill climbs. Definitely a twin convert.

Love those Djebels. Had one very similar to that one, same year etc.
Ours had a small windscreen above the headlight (wasn't tall enough to actually deflect any wind though) and we put a BnB Bashplate on it.
In my opinion don't mess with the motor. We messed with the airbox and jetting and didn't like the results. Then no matter how hard we tried it wouldn't go back to running nicely when we had the mods reversed.

We'd propably still own it if we hadn't messed it up.
