From what I've heard the split plate, quicker venturi flow mod gives you more tractor like bottom end but no improvement on quick rev out, or top end.
In the past 4 strokes were known to have a flat spot when you gave the throttle a quick squirt from idle. Don't know what they have done about it now but back then Honda tried a reed valve on the intake manifold side of the carby (adapted the idea from the 2 strokes) which worked a treat on the XR500. (is that what they call the power valve now?) Seems to me the Power Now addon is one of those minor tweaks you do (amongst every other hop up to fuel, compression, exhaust, gearing, suspension, timing, cam etc etc) if you can afford it and want to squeeze that little bit extra from your machine.

bogging is pretty much part of having a non efi 4 stroke mate. but i have heard the power nows arnt half bad for the price of them. that and a larger carb bowl or something [dunno what its called] are supposed to be the best mods for the price. dunno where i read this, could be all shit.

people have used aftermarket accelerator pump covers.
one of my mate has one and notices it .
they are meant to help eliminate the bog off bottom,

ha haaaa, "bog off problem". "bog off ya little twat" that's what my dad used to say to me. they all do it a little bit and i dunno what a power now is. I don't wanna start another fuel debate but my bike was instantly 10 times better when i filled it with av gas. give it a go man, it's amazing. at least that way you'll know if that is what your problem is

Thread jack, but yeah its been like, fark, virus attack.

Maybe KB was upgrading. Maybe Hitcher was viewing too much porn and got sprung

Those after market accelerator pump covers do the job nicely.
