    Timaru MX nats

Sounds like the Timaru round this weekend was a debacle, called off after 1 very dusty race. Not good for the sport me thinks.....

Guess it can't be helped when we are having another dry summer. I would say this year will be worse than last, i've have had cracks in my lawn for almost a month now, haven't seen that in November before!

Hope Barrett Road goes well. By the sounds of it they will be running the remainder of races from Timaru at New Plymouth. Would make an awesome weekend for spectators.

Best of luck to Broxy i say

At that level I would have thought the tracks would be well watered and groomed before each event?

Yeah, seems they could have been a little better prepared, but check this write-up out from Holeshot and you may think differently.

    Hey guys.

Track was real dusty BUT, they had diggers going all day sunday, 2 x water trucks...fire department, all sorts. They really did make an effort but MAYBE a little late with the water. After having huge issues on Saturday they even had 2 chopppers dumping water on the track on and off throughtout Sunday.

The biggest problem is that they just haven't had any real rainfall for months. Apparently they had dumped over 1 million litres of water in to the track the few days prior.

They even had diggers out between races scraping off the talcom powder dust on sections of track (it was getting nearly knee deep in sections).

So whilst the end result wasn't so great, they did try pretty hard.

A little finger pointing and blame may be going on from the keyboard side of the world but i suspect most people who were there would concede that they tried pretty hard.......and in reality, are to certain degree, as much a victim of nature as hastings was last year when it was washed out (that should generate some debate! )

The good news is that it is really an amazing track and permanent facility that has had HUGE development on it since last year.

In my opinion, If there is going to be a meeting in the south Island, MNZ are right to allocate it to this facility. The club is very lucky to have a benefactor like they do........ (he paid for the choppers out of his own pocket!).

the club did the best job they could with what they had.they had two helicopters trying to water the track but unfortunately it didnt really do the job.we havnt had any real rain down this way for ages.the owners of that track still did a great job with the track with having tunnels under the jumps so you could walk the track etc.I would bet there wont be this problem next year and reckon the will have a watering system in place as the owners are pretty commited to this sport.

There's info on how to donate on holeshot.co.nz & bikesportnz.com worth throwing a few bucks his way I reckon, he's a helluva nice bloke, I got some shots @ Taupo of him face planting & he was grinning when shown them.
