1500 Intruder step up.

Hi All
I am thinking of moving from my Honda vt750 to a Suzuki 1500 Intruder.
I am 6'2" and not skinny so the Honda is small. Unfortunately cant afford a new Boulevard etc so I thought a 1998 ish Intruder might be a good choice. What do all you experts think?

I think the 1500 would suit you quite well.I have the 1400 intruder and being the same height as you i had to put forward controls on which helps with comfort.The 1500 has a good reputation with reliability and is ideal for long trips/touring.If you like the look of it go for it,as with the 1400 they're bullet proof.

I have never ridden the 1500, but have ridden a 1400 and enjoyed that.
I owned a 700 and wouldnt touch that again with a barge pole. But the 1400 was a nice bike.

I have ridden the Vulcans too and would probably slightly prefer one of those to the Suzuki but really not much in it.

I can't comment on the reliability of either, sorry.

Just go to a shop and take 1 for a ride then decide for yourself . I looked at a few when i was in the market , nice bike would suite you well .

About saving up for a new Suzuki 800 or even 1400 but saw the Vulcan 800 online and just had to go and check it out. Loads of fun and more than enough grunt for touring and I can potter around town in 2nd gear all day. I am about 5'11 and big so the wide handlebars and big seat really make it comfortable to ride. You seem to be on the right track anyway but you should perhaps think of at least checking out the Kawies as there are heaps on Trade me to give you an idea and frankly the Vulcan is a beauiful bike.... I am dreading my first wash and polish day...so much chrome.

older vulcan's ,can carry gearbox problem's too,older four speed... the vl 1500 are a good old cruiser,are heavy and enjoy fuel, so be aware if test riding to give it space to pull up on brakes, weight is carried down low, as fuel tank is under riders seat, nope tank is a cover panels only,otherwise a sound bike,

Took the 2008 Kawa Vulcan 900 for a ride the other day beautiful bike... handles and sounds very nice.
