Thread: led aftermarket taillights for a WOF

  1. #16
We've been around the block so many times on window tinting I think a lot of guys just don't want to go there anymore. There is just so much stuff we have to look at,to do a WoF by the book would take hours - and they give us 20 mins.So a few years ago they said we don't have to physicaly check every single component for compliance (like every lamp, seatbelt, window for standards markings) but only if we are ''suspicious'',hence some discrepancies in testing.

Not so sure about bikes, but with car WoFs they are so many regs that just about any car can be failed by legit means.

Too right - I've said it before....if we checked any vehicle by the book, nearly all would fail...even the new off the floor ones.Just keep quiet and accept the occasional phopar eh?...crash...I got my own shop where I rule with an iron fist in well worn slippers....yeah,gotta go and polish my letterbox now...

On Thursday the guy that came down (to Taupo) on the Busa (brand new) had those lights, the lights would dance around til he braked then it was a solid red. It was hard not to keep staring at the lights but after an hour or so following him the novelty of looking (every so often) at the dancing lights wore off.

    cheers for any help.
Be aware the cheap LED bulbs blow fairly readily esp. on a vibrating thing like a m'bike. :disapint:

a well designed LED system will outlast any bulb, hence why trucks/HELLA etc and most companies are going to LED systems, you just need to have a correct current going through all the LEDs equally or you will get differnt colors showing and will burn them out quicker.

Ps LED are not affected by vibration at all! use electrons changing energy levels and emiting the lost energy as photons it has been a while since i covered this so may be a bit out

Just going by what I read in Yankee hot-rod mags, seems the inferior items are a tad 'fragile'.

    Any idea why?

LED's are generally brighter and very rarely fail. So why the bugger not?
