Question Needs me uh new battuhry...

Mixed results on the site / forum search. Course I'd rather not fork for a 'spensive Yuasa and I see there are other "equivalents" available. Anyone in the trusty Adv forum got good advice or inside knowledge. Basically a non Yuasa appears to me to be around half the price...right thing to do? Quote from other member:

"A mate in the trade tells me that all batteries on the market in NZ are crap - even the big buck Yuasa ones. Just get a cheapy and relace it in 12-18 months. This should work out cheaper than an expensive one in the long run (costs me well under $40 for a battery for my CB1100 which gets shag-all use - a $160 battery lasts no longer..)
Oh, and shop around for a good price."

does a drz have a kickstart as well??
If not then the quality of the battery becomes more important in my mind.
I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........

Try your local Century Batteries place, or any other major Battery supplier in your area. I Sourced one for my GPX from them for about $30 - $40 a couple of years ago, wasn't a Yussa.

    cheers

Buggsy, if you ride your goddam DRZ, the battery won't go flat! A battery tender could be an option for you.
Failing that, HCB Technologies in Nelson (the one Nordie mentioned in Parere St) or Endurant Batteries (Battery Town) seem to have good prices. Dunno if you've got a retail outlet over there in Beavertown.

Oh I ride it froggy! It just ain't entirely the right bike to ride to Nelson on every weekend to hang with you'se fullas!

Battery just doesn't hold charge very well any more and I'd like it to turn over for longer after I drain my carb bowl etc. Have a charger as well, every couple of weeks give it a top up.

Question was more asking about brands - if anyone has faith in a good cheapie brand or to fork out for a Yuasa.

Apparently, everything is made in China now, even the supposedly Japanese Yuasa batteries. I replaced my battery recentlyish, and thought I was getting a Yuasa, but instead some wog Chinee brand I'd never heard of turned up. I was told they were just as good, anad so far it's been fine.
OH - and it was toldlessly cheaper.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

A mate of mine with a KLX400 had the same problem, his (newish) battery would lose charge very quickly and would constantly need charging up. He took it back and has had no further probs with new battery. Sometimes you just buy a dud battery, make sure you keep your reciepts for exchange.
