LOL at the Ninja 250r

It is the point I was trying to make with the GSX250 scenario.
I'll just add:

Many riders starting out think after a short time the 250 is not very fast any more.... The truth is, it is plenty fast enough.
If one goes and buys "More Power" with out the skill or respect, then they will only end up at the accident faster.... Sadly.

As my other half pointed out last night, getting on my 600 without the skills obtained on a 250 would be like learning how to drive in a Ferrari.
She is so right. I have a picture of a 308GTS on my wall as it was a dream car as a kid. The last time I went around Manfeild it was actually faster on my 600 than the Chapmans 308 in race trim.... when I saw it in the early 90's.

After only having done just over 800kms myself on my Ninja, i believe there is more than enough power in the bike to do anything that is asked of it, its all down to the rider. Straight line speed doesnt mean diddly squat, anything can go fast in a straight line.

As for me, I look forward to the day that my abilities outperform the bike and i can get a bigger one, but for the next 2 years or so i believe that my 250r will be able to handle anything i throw at it and then some. I might even keep it after that cos it is damn sexy and fun in the twisties!

Its like driving cars (quick story) i could outdrive my mates 2L GTS Skyline in my little Suzuki Swift which is a 1.3L carby, the only place he would beat me is over 110kmph.

Try to learn as much as you can on your 250 as im sure you would be surprised what some of them can do

i've outridden many litrebikes on a 20 year old 400 - absolutey thrashed the nc30 to do it but just goes to show the rider is just as if not more important than the machine - and straight line speed is nothing when the limit is 100kph anyway

He was pretty good, i was just better

mind you it was a standard 2L inline6 manual pulling a 1.5T vehicle vs a SOHC 1.3L 800kg swift lol

he has much improved since those days

either way that would have been fun to see. we all know the swifts handle like a wheel barrow with a flat tyre...the gts isnt exactly a marvelous beast to be honest. but alot better than the [un] swift

yea those were the days of us poor kiddies driving what we could afford, he envied my gas bill though, never more than $30 and his $60-70 for similar kms!

Bottom line, i still like my 250R

Well, this debate has really caused a stir....having read through the posts i can see that its the more expereinced riders of faster bikes (but not all of you!) who feel the ninja 250r isnt fast enough, but noted all the learners and novices think its fabulous!
Im sure kawasaki thought about this bike before manufacturing it and have aimed its use at the people who LOVE IT! Im sure their bottom line will prove it was worth it too! Its not meant for being the fastest bike in its catagory im sure, but will give its riders a confident, fun, economical, easy and sexy start....then we can move onto the MEAT!!

Quite often you will find it's an inverse proportion thing...... Hence I have a 600

the 08 ninja 250 is a great learner bike. and alot of fun for experienced riders to. i noticed comments on speed on straight lines bla bla. corners are where bikes are fun. there is no better feeling than picking some winding road. pullng out of a corner then having to setup for another one no soner than you have managed to get out of the last. i have had a number of bikes in my time. a fxr 150 a 03 gsxr 600 an 05 yamaha r6. and reciently a 2008 ninja 250. the ninja is a load of fun. it is completly different to a 600 cc sports bike. i love the knowledge that on the way out of a corner i can rip that throtle back and use every ounce of power the little bugger has on tap. alot of fun and a great bike.

exact same reason i turned down an r6 and got an rvf400

i would do the same. but i dont see why you would have the ninja 250r after a gixxer 6 or a r6. the rvf is ridiculous fun and is retardedly brilliant handling. the 250r is slow and not the best in the bends, i would be suprised if it pulled higher corner speeds than a newer 600

i can understand not liking wheelspin though...
and theres not many things i would buy before an rvf
