Alot of harrassment for the Ninja!

Ive been quietly following and reading this thread for a while, its amazing how much fervor is going into ripping apart this bike in almost every facet.

Noone would speak ill of a GN250 of Scorpio 225 since they are essentially fit for the purpose. ie learning!

I don't honestly the Ninja sets out to be anything more than an entry level sports bike / commuter. Sure the parallel twin is not the most powerful thing out there, you do have to learn how to drive it... as you would say learning how to drive in a 1.3 litre car.

I did a good 800km ride on my bike up the Waitaki Valley at the start of the week, and it was just magic, slamming thru the corners and getting my cornering lines nice and tight. Sure on some of the steeper hills I had to give it a damn good rev, but it still picks up alright and is good enough for my leaner state. Also it was actually alot of fun.

I was amazed at a petrol station as a girls eyes rolled into the back of her head at my Ninja, since she owned a CBR and it was clearly a better bike in her mind. Hey I even know its a faster more powerful, more rep, but hey it certainly wasn't as cheap or available. And hey she was selling it...

My Ninja/GPX met the requirements of a forgiving nature, it was cheap, quite good looking and comfortable but still has enough get up and go.

id be a little dubious about spending 7K on a new one... but Im a cheap student boy

Im a fan of the wee Ninja. Shes just great

as such it's not really surprising that the new ninja isn't a race machine (as far as the 250 class goes)

get the mc22 or a vtr250 if you want something newer
Actually the Ninja name has been abused by Kawasaki for some time. You may or may not remember a horrible add campaign in the 80's staring young, neon armour wearing, kids astride their crap electric and gutless >50cc quads and minibikes chanting:
"Kawasaki Ninjas Rule, Kawasaki Ninjas Rule"
All it needed was gang signs for it to be a music video, or swastika's for it to be a political rally.
In reality all of the bikes in that advert were as fast as walking. But the ad had so much excitement - must have been the same guy who did the super-soaker adverts.
I remember it was always in the adbreak for Captain Planet

Ok after the reading the whole thread I have to say this....

    What a bunch of tossers.
Wank wank wank..... 600cc bike is better than a 250 learners bike.
Shit did you go to school or drop out of Te Awamutu high?
I'm sorry, but after riding A LOT of little bikes as well as big ones i can happily say very few bikes made me think they were horrible (however there are a few).
The GPX Ninja is a fine machine. It has a motor, gears, goes over 100kph (which is as fast as a green learner needs to go) and looks pretty enough.
If you don't like it - don't buy it.
Truth be told i disliked the ZZR250, CBR250 and VT250 more than the GPX. The ZZR felt like a bloated fish, the CBR sounded like a powerdrill (and is built for a japanese midget), the VT felt like sex with the energizer bunny. But those are my opinions - i know very well in my mind that they are good bikes. And they still felt good.
As for the GPX not being fast enough - go fuck yourself. Or try riding a REAL gutless bike for a change. Shit i could even get a GN125 to 130kph passing cars.
As for it not being the best tech.....what is the most sophisticated 250 out the - Aprilla RS250? Well not bad but it is still based on a 1991 Suzuki RGV.....
Price isn't terrible either - in fact i wouldn't be surprised if its close to the same price its always been. CBR250 was over 10K brand new. You want economical - buy a chinese/malay bike like the RG150/fxr150.....

BULLSHIT!! I owned the gn250 and the most maxxed out on a straight passing cars was 130kph, it was bouncing of the rev limiter ticking over its little single cylinder. Gn125 are even worse in power, dont even lie avgas you already made your little whiney rant.

Also ugly. It amazes me how such a small bike can look flabby

The New Ninja - best selling bike in Aussie this year so far - even outsold the Postie Bike (Honda CT110)

Got 135 on the GN250. Actually same gearing so that is kinda irrelevant. Fact of the matter was both did over 100kph quite easily. Getting the Kawasaki 90 (K1) up to 100kph - now that was a challenge. Ended up getting it to just over 100 - and about 100rpm into valve bounce territory.

That old 79' kawasaki has to be one of the worse i've ridden. A street magic could have beaten it.

I've never topped out a magic - anyone know what they'll do? I got to 70, but im sure it had more in it.
