    Hi Oleg

I can only help you with some of your questions but February is a great time to come to NZ as the weather normally very settled. If you only have 10 days, it is best to only tour one island and I would recommend the south island as it is a paradise for bikers. If you have longer, then both islands is a possibility but you don't want to spoil it by to hard a schedule.

This is the book you need: http://www.mapsworldwide.com/sku_29987.htm. It has maps, POI and details of all the best routes. When we tour the south island, we stay in cabins owned run by the Top 10 chain: http://www.top10.co.nz/. There are many other options.

Some of the other members should be able to tell you about bike hire or purchase.

    Best of luck!

    Hi Oleg!

There are quite a few Adventure riding types on Kiwibiker, so once you have an idea of where you want to go, they should be able to help with some road suggestions.

10 days isn't very long, so I would consider looking around the South Island, and leaving the North Island for next time NZ doesn't look very big, but there are lots of very scenic twisty roads, so it takes a while to get from place to place. Here's a trip that Clint640 and I did in the South Island in March last year: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=322254

I think there are some places in Christchurch that hire BMWs. Christchurch would also be a good place to start and finish. If you are interested in buying a bike http://www.trademe.co.nz is our equivalent of ebay, and will give you an idea of what is out there in the second hand bike market.

Horizons Unlimited is having a meet-up near Christchurch on February 20th-22nd. There is an Adventure bike rally the weekend after, near Te Anau. Both would be good opportunities to meet other adventure/dual-purpose riders. I am pretty sure Clint and I will be in the South Island for both events.

The New Zealand Motorcycle Atlas is very useful. It mainly has sealed routes on it, but also has some gravel roads.

    Enjoy your trip planning!
