Pampa and I decided to go for a lunch time ride, down red rocks.
- Pampa riding through the gate
- down the other side
- GS is always fun in sand
- Pampa making it look easy
- This is as far as we got in the time we had
- The agenda for next time

do you offer guided tours during the weekend???
It was good fun despite a little bit of wind.
The only think with weekends is that Sunday is closed so it can only be Sat and usually there is a fair bit of people till the gate, after that is very cool and apparently u can go a fair bit ...
Dude,
Found the safe (or unsafe for that matter) operating limit on the GS yet?
Great photos real action that where it's at!!
I love the last photo - I've had that pose a few times - "Oh well there goes my back..."
Hard yakka walking to the top of that hill!![]()
Dane and I used to blast around there most weekends, and if you get it right with the tides you can get through cave bay and around to the cable station at Terawhiti...but you gotta get the tides right and I reckon yid be wanting to know how to handle them big bikes second-nature like! Our DR-Z 400's were just right for it (but less "just right" riding the motorway to the city and back).
Keep us posted on any other Welly rides with pics - dare you to get one of the GS at the top of Terawhiti Hill!![]()
Noice..........
Awesome photos!
We've been out there with a mate of ours a couple of times (a colleague of his has a batch out there) and it's always been dark on the way back out - so an oldie with zimmer frame gets along faster than me.
marks it would be pretty hard to get lost along there.
It's a great place to ride if you don't mind gravel. I believe one day is each weekend vehicles are banned, can't remember which day.
Some days you are the bug, some days you are the windshield
Jim, could be an alternate venue to Thursday lunch this summer??????
Orange Thumper
Have riden out there on an old IT 250, around to cable bay, about 25 kms, when the wind gets up you find out about sand storms, if you want to ride around to cable bay allow extra fuel, as the soft sand will chew abit extra gas.
