    CBR250RR front forks adjustment?

    Hey guys,

I'm wanting to stiffen up my front suspension, it's just so soft! I've already tried the viagra, just doesn't work!

I have been told that I can change the grade of oil, or to get spacers put into the forks. Those are two methods, are there any other methods out the in this world? Also, what grade of oil would you reccomend?

There is only a drain and a fill hole on the fork, no adjusting parts.

    Thanks a million,

    STEVEN

The ''methods'' you have been told about are wrong wrong wrong. At minimum you need firmer springs, appropriately preloaded.

    listen to robert.

however a word of warning. i have a old nc21 vfr400 that i stiffened up with harder springs and preload which made the front much better. but if the arse still sits on a really soft shock it can acctually make the bike feel very funny. mine under power is very flighty in the front cause my rear shock virtually doesn't exist.

With all due respect the strong recommendation was to speak to Robert Taylor about appropriate springing. Knowing something of the likely cost and effect of such - having had you supply these for my last 3 bikes - an idicative cost was given to illustrate that it really is a cost effective solution even on a 250 you only plan on keeping for a short time.

Not sure how it came to pass that a separate conversation with another (overheard by myself) turned to adding a spacer and heavier oil, I can only really assume that it was cost related, because as we all know cheapest is best. However to be fair, he was advised that he *could* consider a heavier oil, but no more than a grade above and the specific example of going from 5 to 7.5 wt was used.

So I wouldn't really say the advice given was wrong, wrong, wrong. He was actually told the correct way first.
Just because they have ears, doesn't mean they listen.
