    Ktm exc mr2a?

I'm thinking about buying a 2 stroke KTM EXC 2nd hand. I'd like it to be road legal for short bursts on the road. AFAIK all KTM EXCs are sold with the road kit and are able to be registered. Does this mean that they all have had an MR2A (ready to register) form issued or is it only issued for those that the owner is intending to register? If it has been lost is it a simple matter of applying for a new one or does the bike require a full compliance inspection (or is there some arbitrary age limit on the form)? Grateful for any advice or info. Thanks.

my guess is they would only register the ones that are going to put on the road, check with your local KTM dealer,

I think earlier models (sold new in NZ) were dirt only while later ones were/are road registerable.

I had a 98 300exc that was dirt only. I don't recall a registerable version being available (in NZ) that year.

I now have an 04 300exc that I had the choice of buying road registered or not. I bought it registered/warranted - rode it home, took all the road gear off, changed over sprockets and chains (came with road gearing and dirt gearing sprockets, and chains to suit), and have being doing the registration on hold thing since.

It would be a 2007 or a 2008 model that I would be buying.

through trying to do the same thing my recommendation would be to buy one where it is already registered. saves a lot of headaches especially considering you are buying second hand.
