Ac10 is a waste of coin for a rear on an XR it would last about 2 seconds, on the front its mint

Tractionator HD/HT found to be best all-round tyre
Good chunky knobblie for the front to help control
    front end that carries weight.
More wrestling of front end required on tar than T63
Longest lasting tyre ever run on XR650R
Stiffside wall so can run low pressure offroad
21 on front 18 pounds on back seems good
on tar for handling and longgevity

T63 prob best tyre for gravel ever run
but do not last long on tar even though handle well on it - shocking on mud

Seen others run M21's and go great on tar - but last easily half the
    mileage than the tractionator.

    Is that a 630 B/B kit Dino ??

You will be stoked to be mobile on 2 wheels again, have to catch up early next year for a ride.
Here for a good time, not necessarily a long time

    XR650R for sale?

Hi, I'm after an XR650R for adventure riding. I've got a TT500G but doesn't really have the legs on the road for the company I'm likely to keep. Also despite the huge reliability of the old TT it is a 36 yr old bike so would prefer to use for shorter, closer to home events and rides. Also keen to be able to trail ride the XR. Thanks.

Thanks for that. Yes there are a couple on trademe - one in Tauranga with alot of extra parts but at a couple of grand more. Another with 51K on the clock. So I've looked at the normal channels like Trademe but wondered if this forum brought any more out of the woodwork.

Well my XR400 has done 21000 ks & the engine cases show no where near as much wear....plus the other garks & scratches.Looks like a bit of oxidation on the motor plus he has replaced (good on him too) a fair bit which leads me to believe that the previous owner didn't look after it that well & the seller has tidied it up.
If the oil changes wernt regular ( they have a small volume of oil) then that can cause issues down the line.
So apart from what Ive mentioned I think it is still worth looking at...

But your xr400 does not have the real deal weight saving magnesium clutch cover that wears
    from the kick starting motion
