Anyone out there got an unwanted oil filter cover panel. (part # 11333-MBN-670)
Stupid me overtightened bolts as still had leakage after doing 1st oil filter change, turns out oil o-ring seal/gasket was stuffed, resulted in panel snapping across just below top bolt...doh!
Have twice tried to need-it the crack to no avail.
Searched on-line wreckers as far as Australia with no luck, have been quoted NZD150+ to tig weld
Hamptons and Cassbolts in Christchurch don't have one so looks like will have to wait while one is sourced ex-Japan...stink!

That seems a bit rough. I got my DR650 rim rewelded for much less than that. I think it was Austins Aluminium Welding that did it. Real old engineering shop - not big on marketing but big on skills.
Cheers R
P.s. assume the cover is alloy and not magnesium or something?

The old guy at austins is pretty good...and friendly and helpful too....
Thanks for the comments guys, I bit the bullet and ordered oil cover and it arrived ex-Japan 10days (Friday) later so I'm back mobile.
Post was just on the off chance that someone had one lying around, was getting sick of pushbiking home in the dark!

In 2008 I imported a new 2007 XR650R (in the crate) from the USA, its standing in my garage for a while now, will I be able to register it for road use in NZ with e.g. a Baja Designs dual sport kit etc. I have all the paperwork of the import etc.
Advise will be welcome.
Shooting off to the AA to hear what they say and will subsequently update the thread.

Been through this process last year. Here in Wellington VTNZ are doing the registration for bikes (the Adelaide rd. branch) and they have a guy that does only mcycles. He gave me all the info I needed. Basically, if the bike model you have, has already been imported for road use by Honda you're sorted. In my case (KLX 300) it was imported only for dirt use and registering it would have been as difficult as registering a custom built machine (ten thousand certifications).
I also re-registered an XR650 a few months ago, but in my case the bike had been previously registered in NZ so it was a breeze.
Even if you're not from Wgtn you can call VTNZ Adelaide and speak to the guy about what's needed to register an imported bike. His name is Jerry and he is very friendly and helpful.
this is what i needed for my DR650 imported from the USA,
original title (Pink slip)
Bill of laden (shipping documents)
Proof of purchase (links to last registed owner in states)
unfortunately i had neither so it didnt get vinned
dont forget the brake declaration, would be cheaper if you know a bike shop that does it and get that done before it goes in.
How much US did you get it for?
