must be rear tyre and rider for sure...the guy on the dr had the engine on the boiler xr rider
seemed to be runnung out of puff...higher road gearing perhaps?
or maybe the quiker revving drz is just better in the dunes huh

it sounded a bit pathetic power wise....still corked in the pipe and poss other adr bits
    still onboard

comments indicate a worn tyre which doesnt help eh

I thought it was lack of power?
I mean, that DR200 is snorting nitrous obviously.

The XR doesn't have a hope of keeping up

I chose the easy way out. For the sports bike I am very particular about tyres and I've tried enough brands and models to know what I like and what I don't. For the dirtbike however, I don't put enough kms to get a change to test that (only about 10,000 km/year) so I stick with kenda offroad tyres. They chew pretty fast on asphalt (since they're knobblies) but the knobs pattern gives them a decent grip on the road (not so much in the rain ) and a very good grip offroad. Moreover, being one of the cheapest (if not THE cheapest) road legal knobblies, I can affort to replace them when they wear out and not have to keep swapping between tyres depending on where I want to go riding on a given day.

And believe me, I've tried a few road legal knobblies that are twice the price and wasn't very impressed either offroad or on the street.
