They chew pretty fast on asphalt (since they're knobblies) but the knobs pattern gives them a decent grip on the road (not so much in the rain ) and a very good grip offroad. Moreover, being one of the cheapest (if not THE cheapest) road legal knobblies, I can affort to replace them when they wear out and not have to keep swapping between tyres depending on where I want to go riding on a given day.

And believe me, I've tried a few road legal knobblies that are twice the price and wasn't very impressed either offroad or on the street.

I had some IRC's on one of my old XR400's, things were amazing, we have mean some tire ripping rocks around here and they seems to last really well while still offering good grip, haven't seen them since sadly, but this was a few years ago. Think they were a budget tire, but can't remember if they were DOT approved or not. Tried Kenda's on my old XT and it ripped them to bits in no time on the same terrain.

AC10s are great but the rears wear fast on the pig the fronts are my tyre of choice i just buy what evers cheap an nasty for the rear, i even use 2nd hand mx tyres for the rear at times. the regular t65's mt21's e-o9s are good but im a tight arse so $1 reserve tyres will do me. like Valintino sez " put something you trust on the front and a round rubber thing on the rear"

Did i mention that XR's are friggen awesome
i love when your in say fourth gear low revs and then you just open the pig up and pull harder than a school boy then into fifth and repeat till you go of the speedo
or when its a long uphill and ya just pinn it in fifth - oh the sound of that zorst is fantastic.
why oh f#ckin why did the powers at be in honda stop making the R model, was listening to some US riders saying JC's baja times were quicker on the 650 than the 450, imagine if they put a lecky leg on it i bet there would be more Honda ADV converts.
when one of us wins lotto we gotta go to the states and bring a shipping container of BRP's back

so you fellas gettin any miles in this weekend

I've got shots of a CRF up in Hira during a 3hr cross country at the base of Mt Everest that had loose sprocket bolts. Every bolt hole in the hub had been ripped apart.
All the bolts were still attached to the sprocket though.

I had the Pig out on Sunday, Ryan (coonyer) and I did a organised high country trail ride up at Flock Hill station (past Porters Pass near Lake Pearson)
Lots of slippery clay after heavy rain overnight but had a blast, Ryan unfortunately lost an engine mount bolt after his 2nd lap so had to sit the rest of the day out. No other 650R's there but there was a fairly mint road legal XR600 circulating .

I love blasting past fancy pants motorcross bikes on my road legal 23ltr fuel tanked beast on these rides, very satisfying!
