true, most of it looks to be in good cond, however i wonder about the wear on the engine covers... all this is speculation until you actually talk to the bloke that owns it, plus i'm a skeptical prick at the best of times...

what do we do about replacing them? well for me the 650 was a compromise, i found my 400 a better and more agile bike in the tricky stuff but i was going to kill it on the road, so i chose the bigger machine. I've rued the decision many a time stalled half way up a firebreak and covered in sweat, but when it comes to open dirt road blasting, the power always makes me smile

In relation to replacing engine covers, I put my foot brake lever through my right engine cover earlier this year (thats another story).
Replacement was only about $80 bucks (ex AKL not Japan) and after one trail ride it looks totally scuffed up by my boots
so don't look to much into the condition of the engine covers on a XR

    Replacing a BRP Mmmmmm
hopefully honda might replace the XRL with a lecky start XRR
a part from the expensive KTM i cant see anying coming close to performance allthough the husky 630 would be the closest in comparison IMHO.
may be i'l just ride the pig till im to old to kickstart the bugga then buy a scooter

I am new to this thread, so forgive me for not going back through the pages. Two questions; what was the last year new 650R's were sold in NZ and what was the last they were made (and sold overseas)?

I've only got about 3 sets of tyres that skinny left and don't even like to put them on the 350!
