A "yay", a rant, an "oh shit", a "wtf?" and a lol.

    TO start with..

[yay] Went to warkworth motorcycles and machinery cause my new side fairing had arrived, yay no more scratched up, buggered one.. [/yay]

[Rant] going for a little cruise, get stuck behind this big truck full of gravel.. big straight, bout to pass..
fucking big chunks of gravel jump out of the back and bounce up.. one went right over my shoulder..
needles to say i backed the fuck off after that...

its not only dangerous to us, it'd own car windshields aswell.. should they have to have a cover over the top of these things or something..

    big chuck of gravel VS visor/neck/inner elbo/bike = Ouch/crash/$$$ to fix bike >_> [/Rant]

[Oh shit] also on hte same cruise... going from welsford to Kaukapakapa come round a coner, oo there's a biker..
(biker nods to me, i nod back, warm fuzzy feeling etc) look back to see a nice fuck off 35 corner in front of me..
so i break, ok all good going slow enough now... wrong, fucking loose small stone/gravel all over the corner...
ahhh brake some more, didnt target fixate *phew* and end up stopped right beside edge close to a ditch >_> [/Oh shit]

[wtf?] also same cruise.. doo dee doo riding along, when suddenly there some big ass bug thing splattered to the INSIDE of my visor.. i mean how the hell did that happen?
i stared at it for a min, freaked out, opened visor, pulled over, hastily took my helmet off, and shivered a little [/wtf?]

[lol] Again, same time...Riding along and theres a bird in the middle of the road.. all good it'll fly off.. get closer, and its playing chicken with me..
closer still, i slow down a tad.. then woosh it flys off to the left.. straight into a parked 4x4... i hope it was ok though, cheekly little bird. [/lol]

    that concludes todays adventure.

Sounds like you need to give trucks more following distance (same thing goes for trailers and utes with loose things in the back), better situational awareness particularly in regards to the road ahead of you, and more wheelies.

I think you are also auditioning for the role of court jester in the Biker God's fortress of Riding. As noted before, other worthies are also in session as well.

In fact this needs a pantomime for it to be elevated to legendary status! Just remember that all this is a learning experience which has costed you little, bank it, reflect on it and let it inform your riding on those lanes of freedom!

Worst part following trucks with loose metal is as you said flying bits of it,we had a stone hit the car which needed replacing.
Then 3 days later the front windscreen was replaced on our second car due to a stray stone, that was fixed on Tuesday and Friday exactley what you said happened, wife following a truck carrying road grit and shingle from work site to a dump, guy travelling at 110km,stones flying and a bloody suicidal rock jumped the trailer, bounced and smashed the rear hatch of the car, unbelieveable, turned out the cops had been alerted to this and the result was 3 cars with smashed glass.
Hello officer put it on my tab
