He shook his head? musta made u feel real bad.. lol

Not as bad as getting a mufti POINT his finger at u as ugo past him at 115-120 in a 100 zone.... naughty naughty!!!!

I suspect the police around here arent so caught up on the speeding fines unless u are doing sily speeds, unless they set up a radar gun to get us. Even then gettin a ticket the cop was still nice i suppose we just new we were in the wrong.

30k over in a buit up area... pull ya head in.

Obviously the speed limit is there for a reason, but you cannot sit there and tell everyone you have never gone over the posted speed limit. Nobody would believe it.

Not tryin 2 start a shitfight but seriously sometimes the speed does HONESTLY drift up above the speed limit, esp since some bikes do over 100 in 1st gear....

I am not surprised. Most of your posts impart this feeling that you haven't read them through yourself before posting.

But you are if nothing else as predictable as ever - red rep and an angry response where you completely fail to actually relate to what you are replying to. Now please substantiate your reply by at least telling me which bits of the following are stupid:

You know full well that there are places out there where 80 km/h in an 50 km/h speedzone is not dangerous, in any imaginable way. Just like there are places out there where going 70 km/h in some 100 km/h zones would see you crash and burn real quickly.
p.s. I have never ridden with you, but contrary to your beliefs some people apparently find that your nick fits your riding perfectly as well.
It is preferential to refrain from the utilisation of grandiose verbiage in the circumstance that your intellectualisation can be expressed using comparatively simplistic lexicological entities. (...such as the word fuck.)

Ahhh fark ok i will, but I expect there will be those that still wont get it... but if just one person takes it in, Im happy.

    1) apart from the fact theres a reason its a 50k zone ie: some one of importance knows theres dangers there that you are unawear off like maybe kids running out from know were onto the road chasing a ball.
    2) a doe doe knows you can die at 10kph in a 100kph zone... I have seen it your comment is pointless.

    3) and most importently...
people that I often scrap it out with about crossing the center line, there reply is "ohhh but the way was clear"
people after the fact that say "ohhh but i didnt see you"

speeding in a 50k zone (after all this is what the topic is about) is a risk the stats say it all 'SPEED KILLS' once again theres a reason for that speed limit just like theres a reason for not crossing the center line... lets look at the recent deaths, harsh but thats the truth.

Three people dead... why DOH the rider causing the deaths must have thought, speeds harmless... I can see around the corner nothing comming, FUCK SAKES he crossed the center line at speed into oncomming bikes, and I have to asume it WAS NOT DELIBERAT, I bet ya theres some one out there that wishs I wanked on about this and he listened, might have saved 3 lives.

    Summery,
So you and ya mates blast through 50k zones at 80k and when some one pulls out in front of you from a blind intersection or what ever because they mis judged ya speed (after all you were traveling 75% faster than they expected) and you end up in a heap... I dont wana know about it.
I really just hope its the idiot traveling at 30k over in a 50k zone thats hurt not a child, my partner or me.

BUT, you and fly boy are young, ya know it all, ya bullet prof and all that shit... I wish ya well.

If my memory is that bad please remind me. The only time I recall ever being close to riding with you, you drove the truck (and good on ya for that by the way, not meant as criticism). But if I recall incorrectly pray refresh my memory.

As for my arsing off, while I shall happily admit to making mistakes based on poor judgement and/or riding technique I'll maintain that I have never had an accident where anybody else but myself was involved or at risk.

You're disappointed? Well, first of all it wasn't personal - I just said I thought it was poor of you to go off at someone for saying he'd done 80 in a 50 zone when you don't know the circumstances. And I'll stand by this.

Regarding the "question": First of all, the post which you replied to and called stupid was not a question. Second, could it be that I actually was interested in YOUR opinion? Believe it or not, some of us "young and bulletproof" actually do appreciate a second opinion - even when it comes from grumpy old men.

As for being two faced. Well since no one has called me that to my face I'd have to say it takes one to know one. I am sure no one who actually knows me well would ever arrive at that conclusion.

So someone of importance has made some general guidelines and that excuses you from thinking for yourself?

It proves the point that just because the sign says 100 km/h doesn't mean that it's safe to do a 100 km/h. And vice versa, just because the sign says 100 km/h doesn't mean that it isn't safe to do more or less than 100 km/h.

If you insist on eating raw bullshit propaganda like SPEED KILLS I can not see any reason to continue having a discussion on this topic. Because you're not going to be objective, you'll just hang on to that gospel and firmly refuse to consider anything else. But then again, I wager that you do not truly adopt to said propaganda...

Off topic, why bring it up here?

Don't worry. I'll continue to exercise what I consider due consideration and caution in my riding. All while dodging drunk drivers/riders, people in 4x4s busy making phonecalls, soccermoms who pulls u-turns without checking their mirrors, etc. Don't worry, I am aware of the risks, I value my life and have respect for others'. But I am not going to eat bullshit like SPEED KILLS and "80 in a 50 zone is WRONG" - because while not necessarily incorrect they do not represent all of the truth.

Wish I was younger, could do with a bit of bulletproofing - but those days are, for me at least, well into the past. Again, some of us actually do value your opinion D, especially when voiced offline.

In some places, at my discretion, yes. Everywhere and all the time, no.
And so far all gathered evidence points to me being correct in that assumption.

Are you btw. suggesting that it is safer to speed in a 100 km/h zone? Or are you always a law-abiding saint who would never ever exceed the speed limit yourself?

    Quote Originally Posted by dangerous

He was speeding... But the true cause of the accident was poor judgement in regards to how and where to overtake - at least that is what I read, but I wasn't there, in his head, when the accident happened.

Some people have been going very very fast along the Akaroa road many many times and are still alive and haven't killed anyone... yet.
And that "some people" does not include myself. I am almost always very well behaved on that particular road.

And when did we go riding together again?

It's funny that the people who put so much trust in authority are so quick to disregard the fact that even the cop didn't think his speeding was worth an infringement notice or even an educational chat. Is that because the cop is not the "someone of importance" that put up the speed sign...? I really don't get it.

There's a shitload of bent bikes and riders resulting from that sort of mind-set/attitude - and I bet bugger-all of them thought THEIR particular over-stepping of the speed limit was particularly dangerous, it was their discretion eh,
