Rainbow not open until 28 Dec!

Just rang DOC to find out about the Molesworth and to confirm it is opening for the DB1k. Also asked St Anaurd DOC what the weather is like cause we were hoping to ride the Rainbow on Monday (22nd Dec). Turns out that the Rainbow will be opening on the same date as the Molesworth from now on i.e. the 28th December. I rang the Rainbow Station to confirm this, which they did.

If anybody has any plans for using the Rainbow before the 28th Dec from now (when travelling from south to north) on you will need to organise a key to be sent to you before you leave.

Thanks for doin our homework for us Ryan!

Me an a couple of mates are leavn the mainland on the 28th;for the outer island to do just these trax( and many others too!), so it is great to know they will be open for our pleasure!

if you head down towards Reefton there is a shitload of awesome 4wd tracks down that way

Damn I was heading down to Hanmer on Tues through the Molesworth. Can I still do it? What do I do? Can I pick up a key on the way thru?

If you went through the Rainbow you could pick up a key from the homestead but I'm not sure about the Molesworth. Apparently you can get through outside normally open times but I dont know the procedure. Ring DOC South Marlborough to find out what your options are.
