Are the 950s a roller bearing or plain bearing crank? If roller bearing, they can survive for quite a long time on not much oil (eg just about every two stroke made gets by on a very light oil mist) but if its a plain bearing crank, the bearings are probably buggered by the time the oil light comes on.
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.
those cheap ass bitches can do anything with ductape.

Crank, cam bearings, cam itself, none of those things like being short of oil. Serious talk is needed with the shop that fitted the "suspect" filter.

Wonder what brand filter it was?? Would be good to know cos I know there are a lot of knock offs out there.
I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........

Warning to all KTM 950 Owners...........

Just droped into AFC motorcycles in Palmy today before going to see the Motorcycles Unleashed exhibition at Te Manua (spelling). Great display and well worth a look. Anyway back to the story, I spoke with Brendon (head mechanic) and he did the work on Lawrance's 950 and said the filter collapsed thus blocking the oil flow to the engine. I asked what brand it was & he said it was a Hi Flow......of which I have used in my 450 before. Apparently it is quite common as they pump at quite a high pressure and thus collapsed the paper filter.

I promptly purchased an OEM filter before leaving........
