I've had bike WoFs stolen several times, and my entire licence plate and registration sticker stolen once (when it really was a sticker)!

I used to keep my WoF under the seat, but have settled on the compromise of putting the WoF holder behind the plate where it's hard to break off. The registration is stuck onto the mudguard with clear waterproof tape.

The MM's in Nelson carry little digi cameras and iPaq's.
Everything is logged back to base including pics.
The PW in AK do something like that as well.
I got ticketed outside Customs on Symonds St a couple of years ago.
Whoever heard of doing biz'o with Customs in less than half an hour for christ sake.Bloody Vultures.
Anyway I found the guy Putting the ticket under my wiper as I came out an called him a few unpleasant things (helped by the fact he wouldn't stop smiling)
When I rang to bitch about it they had everything I said to him word for word.
Not much of an argument after that.

hmmm sounds like someone needs to go to anger management....
Surely you are old enough and intelligent enough to understand why we have reg and wof and the need to display them to prove they exist. And achieving it is hardly a difficult task. Abusing all and sundry for what boils down to your own lack of attention to detail isnt a good look, mate, sorry to say.

Write in and have a try. I got the same ticket a couple of months ago. I wrote in and supplied proof that I was licensed at the time. They let me off.

You may as well try it, worse case is that they say no.

I have to agree with Sels1 on this as well, if they weren't meant for displaying they wouldn't give us anything to display.

However, maybe a better approach would be to note a vehicle that does not display a wof or reg, generate a letter to the owner informing them of the issue and either perform a simple liciencing check or request the owner to come in within 10 days and prove the vehicle is up to standard. Rego's and WOFs have date of issue on them, heck rego down to the minute.

Okay, fatal flaw in the above theory. That would cost money, not generate it. And how would the councillors award themselves another payrise?

    Still, in a perfect world.

Anyway, send in a nice letter blah blah blah and try to get off the ticket.

    Easy Fix

Add $2 onto each registration fee of Waikato Rally 3. Noone will ever know, and you should make the $200 no problem

Mate, I just wrote out 2 cheques, one to you and one to "New Zealand Police". Hey, at least they have a "Free Post" option, I would have gone bust otherwise hahahahahahahahahaha

I've got that and the WOF under the fuel filler flap BUT that is clearly labeled
"Lift to display WOF & REG" or words to that effect. I know even that is against their petty rules but she'd have to be an arch bitch to bust me and if she did I figure I'd front some bullshit legal precedent or suumint that made the bastards define "near" for the purposes of their arguement. Under the seat is "near", but it's not displayed.

If you notice this notice you will notice that it is a notice.

Unfortunately you'll probably end up having to pay it. Excellent. If it makes you feel better, yesterday i was bone tired after gibbing and puppy training, went for a ride, took $100 bucks out and left the money sitting in the machine.

At least you got to swear at somebody other than yaself...
Naked arse MB, time to give up those recreational drugs, they're costing you in more ways than one!!

It would have been better if you gave the money to Dangerous so he and I could "invest" it in a bottle of fine single malt...... (at least you would have known who was enjoying you misfortune)

    .

There was several bikes ticketed for this a while ago outside Ducati House in Lambton Quay - Matthewt's was one of them.

One of the blokes from my work had his (up-to-date) rego on the back side of the numberplate, he was ticketed because the wording of the legislation is apparently that it "must be able to be seen when reading the numberplate" or words to that effect.

The long and the short of it is that it seems it's a very gray area as to whether they can ticket or not.

Good luck with the letter Quasi.

Do meter maids work on a commission? My mate got off his fine for failing to display his rego by just sending a stern, but polite letter explaining why it was not displayed to the cops.

I got stung when I borowed a friends bike. He keeps his warrant and rego in his jacket pocket (did not know this until after I got the ticket).

The HP guy gave me a ticket for no WOF. Let me go on the rego.

I wrote in, providing a photocopy of the warrant with the letter, and explained the situation. The cops let me off.

This ticket was for "no current WOF" rather than for failing to display. So would have had a strong argument anyway.

As yours is for failing to display rather than no current reg, there is a risk that you are stuck with it. But I say write in, provide a photocopy. Chances are good I say.
