btw - Parking wardens probably work for a rent a cop outfit these days and you have always been required to display your rego / wof. They never used to check it so rigourously.

    Cool

Its Hamilton City council. Ring them and find out who is in charge of the ticket revenue department. Make an appointment to see that person in charge...TODAY if they arent in a meeting etc. and take the bike up and show him where it is displayed on your bike and explain the reasons why. You will also have to put it in writing.. but try seeing the person in charge first. Speak sweetly to that person, by now the lovely meter maid has already told them her side of the story.....
Apologise for swearing at her... etc its called grovelling.

Now after doing all that you should get off the ticket.... and chat to the person where they would recommend in future where to place the rego thing in future as that is where you have always put it and never been given a ticket for it in the past for x amount of years of riding motorbikes....

Grovel well Quasi... and you will get off it..... charm the pants off them.. no not literally. Good luck.... this way does work... well it has for me over a parking ticket - but thats another story......

The bikes come with about 10kgs of plastic off the back, hanging down. Doesn't look all that great, kinda spoils it's sexy lines, so whip 'em off. Originally, they are screwed on below the plate, I think.. it's not standard anyway..
You'd wanna replace those front indicators too... coz they look about the size of your helmet...

Best of luck, I'm sure you'll be able to get out of it.

I've had a few from failing to display WOF and registration (which are on a conveniant swing out thingy behind the numberplate) and they've being pretty good about it.

Got a ticket for the same thing a couple of years ago. Was in AMI buying new rego at the time and had taken the old registration sticker with me for the rego number. Went into the council building and filled in their little form with my explanation and showed them the new rego sticker (issued 2 minutes before the ticket) and got a letter waiving the fine a week later. Easy.

Have to disagree a little here....

I know what you are saying but not everyone gets as many choices. It's hard to explain if you have never been dirt poor but it's possibly not that simple from her point of view. It's maybe a silly regulation but the MM will be screamed at by angry bosses if she does not do what she's told and might just need that job more than you can imagine. Not everyone is clever or has choices and screaming at her just won't make any difference once the tickets written out.

Only 3 valid options. (screaming at MM is not one - feels good but won't do much)

    1. Easy way. Pay up and learn a bitter lesson. Cost $200.00

    2. Middle way. Explain the situation with proof of rego etc in a letter as detailed on the ticket, cost, 30 mins and 40c for the stamp.

    3. Hard way. Learn up on all aspects of the laws / regulations and challange them in court as to the legality etc etc. (bound to be some dodgy bit there someplace), cost = time plus the possibilty you will loose and get costs.

I remember this happening to me in the 70's. Parked my car on the way to the wof station and got a ticket just like you. Fortunately I passed the wof and wrote explaining and got off.

Ive already done the middle way letters in the post.
And yes she /they whatever get yelled at for not doing their job, sure, and it my absolute duty as a new zealand citizen to stand up and be counted for those laws that are unfair, or those laws that in my view carry a unfair fine or sentence.I am obliged to because I love my country and what it means to me.
And Paul me old wise mate from the south, it will be a very very sad day in New Zealand when people do NOT speak out and protest. For then we truly will be at the mercy of the Beauricrats. and that day if it comes will be the day when I will leave this land of plenty to the beauricrats to have all to themselves.

Call the bank...the money machine should suck it back in if it wasn't taken within a certain timeframe (less than 60 seconds). Then the money machine will be $100 up on the balance.

As you've done the letter that's probably the best. Say that it was on the bike, but not by the plate, due to the fact that it has been lost/stolen/pissed on by vagrant dog in the past.

As you sais $200 bucks sucks since it WAS registed (and you can prove it).

What happens when some fuckwit unscrews the rego from the back of my bike and does a runner with it - am I liable for his actions? I'd like to think not, but that's what sound like would happen.

Hopefully the council will see sense. let us know what happens ...

That sucks Quasi. I think taking the rego in and showing it to them and telling then the the meter maid didnt see it stuck to your blade.
