    Motorbike transporters

I'm not sure what forum to put this in but.... can anyone recommend a transporting company that will transport a bike from Dunedin to Wellington and what would the cost be approx ? Thanks.

I had to send mine from Timaru - Welly , rang around everyone . Costs ranged from $400 - $675 . They all said same thing its expensive to go on the ferry .

    Personal experiences with transporting companies?

Hi, I have the same query about transport companies, to ship a machine from Auckland to the South Island in the new year.

Can I qualify the question to ask for any (positive or negative) PERSONAL EXPERIENCES, USING ANY PARTICULAR COMPANY, please, rather than "I heard that...".

    Appreciated.

I used these guys - they're good.....but like the other dude said it is the ferry ride that is going to kill you on price.

Well I've used biketranz (chch to auck) and can't say a bad word about them. Very good contact and they aren't just a freight company, they are a bike transport company so know what to do and how to handle a bike properly.

Great thanks for your comments. It looks like biketranz seems to be the one used the most.

Aye, I agree, and that's what I am planning on doing, I just wish the road between Palmaston-Chch is so boring.

I got a bike down from Dorkland with Biketranz to Queenstown. 4 months ago it cost $500. Who knows now? Was very happy with them and the bike. Go Biketranz!

    , f

Are there any alternative routes, oh maybe 77, but I have to go through to Chch. And I don't have time to go through to the coast, but one day when I have the time I would really like to ride up through there.

I, too, can endorse biketranz. Brought my bike to Oamaru from Auckland for about $500. Bike arrived in perfect condition and I could find out about it en route. Everyone I spoke to on the phone was very helpful.
