Talking New tyres for my ZX14?

Hello fellow Kiwibikers. My latest addition to the family is now in need of a new set of tyres. Only managed just over 4000 ks on the original Bridgies so I am keen to try something else that might last a bit longer. I had a good run on a pair of Metzler Z6s on my ZRX but am keen to get some other opinions on what to get this time. Cheers...

Try Kwaka14 (Sean) and Barbender (Rona), they're both good old Ninja 14 owners (tho Rona doublecrossed by buying a Tuono - shame!) and have tried a few tyres between them. Sean may even be able to do you a deal on some - he works at Motohaus.

Pilot Power Road 2ct...Done over 10000ks on this set AND I just got another warrant. Probably another thou left in it on rear, but the front'd last another rear I reckon. I dont commute on them so I dunno how they'd last with townie riding, but they stick like shit, are great in the wet & Ive also done trackdays on 'em.

10k on Pilot Powers now thats impressive. I could never get more than 5 on my ZX10. Have they changed that much in a couple of years...???

Yeah Ive been kinda surprised myself !!. Most of its been fanging too, there aint no little fat dude on the edges no more, but also did a 3000k round trip of da Nth Isl pretty well loaded up. Maybe its the horsepwer/weight differance, suspension settings ??

Yep, the Pilot Road 2's are very durable and I'd consider them one of the best all round road tyres. Real hard in the centre and brilliantly sticky on the sides. You should easily get 7-10+ K out of a rear depending on how hard you ride. Sarah's Daytona's getting Pirelli Diablo Rosso's soon, looking forward to comparing the two.

I got about 8000kms on my rear Diablo, thats on my ZX14r, but there are heaps of options, but if your into tyre life dont go getting a racy tyre like Diablo corsa or Power etc as you will chew it out in a heartbeat.
Ive run out of fucks to give

    Re: Rubber

    Gidday Scooter,
Stick with the Z6's - have run them religiously on my 12 & will be hard pressed to change, they just "work" on big bikes ...

    Cheers

Avon Storms should perform better and wear longer than PR2s. I have tried all of the above and am sold on Storms.

Lots of interesting feedback to 'chew' over people..thanks. Hey iwilde what sort of mileage are you getting from the M3s on the 14...??? I know the Z6's are a good thing but I am kinda keen to try something different. The Avon Storms sound interesting too....Ahhh decisions decisions....
