The van did not have to alter his course, I had moved to my left before it reached me. It was then that he felt it necessary to move towards me and make an issue out of it...perhaps he thought I was in the wrong, or maybe his missus had just told him moments prior that he is a slack root, dont know...I am not bothered by it at all...but the thread title says it all really.
Assumption! you read about a situation, get a mental picture in your and comment on it, whether your comment is right or wrong, you beleive it and nothing will change that.

I had a blocker do the same to me as I passed him today.
Often they are in big 4x4s,as this one was,which is an indication that they feel immasculated by life.
I see what their intentions are way before they begin their move .You see it as they spot you in their wing mirror.
The courteous drivers who moved left for me and were following the ball less one ,no doubt were thinking what a wanker he was.
Best of all, I just gently choose my path to avoid him and do not even acknowledge his existence.

That really burns them up.

I had a similar sort of incident where car drivers were getting shitty at me for passing in bumper to bumper holiday traffic. Double yellows but I was wholy within my lane with most drivers pulling left to let me past. I still got at least 1 beep to every 30-40 cars passed though

Why do car drivers think that? My bro (obviously not a rider) said the same sort of thing about lane splitting saying if you want to be a vehicle, behave like the others. Well sh1*, microlite's don't fly down on the airport runways just to land because they're aircraft as well

I still fail to see how, after admitting to riding on the wrong side of the road (no matter how far), and riding on the white lines, then, having the cheek to lambast the van driver for "blasting his horn at you" (thats what warning devices are for). Then, you try to tell us you were riding safely...

How do you know the van didn't "have" to alter his course? There could have been a myriad of reasons why he wished to move to the inside edge of HIS lane. There could have been a pothole on the outside edge, a kid running after a ball towards the road, gravel, anything which you might not have been looking for as they wouldn't've affected your little overtaking maneuver in the centre of the road. Of course though, you jump straight to assuming that the van driver was out for blood, rather than thinking "Oh wait a second, if I had just waited a few seconds more and then overtaken the other vehicle further down the road, I wouldn't've looked like a impatient squid to the car drivers, would've had a greater chance of surviving to '09, and everyone including Mr. MurderVanDriver would have been lacking a reason to log onto the internet and start silly bitching.

Had this van driver hit you and witnesses stated to police the van in fact swerved towards you I doubt anyone would care much which side of the white line you were on - the collision would have to be classed as manslaughter at best, attempted, or sucessful murder at worst.

There was no reason for vanman to move anywhere, if he had kept his line then all is fine.
