Hey, welcome to KB. Try to filter out the millions of KBers who love to bag the looks of the bike... I kinda like them having seen one skillfully ridden often around these parts. Look lots of fun. Can't offer anymore than that sorry![]()
One of my customers has TWO. He fuggin loves em. Sorta like an italian TDM I guess.

That's what I did, and I ended up with a GSX1400.
But I'd have bought the Multistrada if the new 1100 hadn't been $8,000 more expensive than the Suzuki.

Seriously get one , but go for the S model and get the Olins front end, this is the most fun bike I have ever owned, top in the tight stuff and super comfortable on a long haul.![]()
I'd pass on the looks alone, but the quality is the most disurbing thing. Paint flaking of brake reservoir's, headlight adjuster motors left off and uneven gaps between the moving and fixed parts of the front fairing are only the tip of the iceberg I fear. I'm talking low km second hand ones. Multistrada owners are either perversely (or subconciously) self-harming their rides or someone didn't put it together right.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?
If you don't appreciate perfection, then don't buy an FJR1300.

Had a Bandit (now cherished by Chancyy). Best bang for your buck. Ideal for two up spirited touring but HEAVY. For twisty stuff can't beat the Strada. It's like a ballerina in comparison. Duc's have a rep for being primadonnas with high maintence but these days extended service intervals (and superb handling) compensate. Love my "s" model.
Have ridden the litre Multistrada for a full, hard day on top roads in the US (Deals Gap, 28, Cherohala etc). Had no trouble keeping up with decently ridden 'busa, R1, new CBR x 2. This bike rocks on corners, lots of lean. It is a very different bike though to those sports touring models you list. I am not sure I would like day after day on the Multistrada on long, touring roads, its far too hot, too vibey. But if your rides are mainly a series of hard day rides, it takes some beating. Quality...the one I have been on was about 16k km and looked/ran OK.

...the older I get, the faster I was...
I rode an S model the other day.
The handling was utterly amazing. Faultless. I jumped on and caned the crap out of it. It was very very easy to ride, and ride quickly too.
Bad things, it took awhile to warm up. The engine was silenced to nothing. Air cooled Ducatis should be the best sounding bikes ever. They usually are. And the engine was a little breathless as well.
But I thought it was a bit soulless really. It was just too easy to ride. Seems I want a challenge. Didn't leave me smiling really.
Here is the one I rode: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...-178239880.htm . It comes with that Ducati box on that back too.
