not meaning to be rude but if you cant find a cdi or tell the difference in that or an ecu nor wheather your own bike is carb or FI you probably shouldnt be cutting up too many cables on a hunch that a flat spot is due to a retard/advance problem.

Cold in Ireland??
Your early pics show its Fuel Injected. - ECU = Fuel Injection. Your bike will not be able to use the simple CDI mod - this only applies to normally aspirated/Carb bikes. To effect a modification on your version of the bike the ECU "commands" for the fuel injection/engine management will need to be re-configured. It is best to get a dealer or performance specialist to do this.

um yes, but a reported problem doesnt mean thats whats wrong wiith your bike, it means look and test here first.

If you'd looked into it you would understand that it the particular wire in question retards the timing around 5000RPM in order to pass Euro III emission tests.
Unplugging it removes the retarding, and fixes the flat spot.
Perhaps "reported problem" was the incorrect choice of words.

no no no I agree, I'm not trying to start a wet t shirt comp. Merely saying that someone who is inexperianced shouldn't read about a problem them assume to just go ahead and fix it. Always test your theory first before changing anything. and surely they would have a fix for the EFI version then?
