Eight counted out (eventually !) , eight counted in.

Big props to the two road bikes that were in the seven that made it all the way to the top

A few spills, nothing serious. And only one ran out of fuel

    A very pleasant afternoons ride.

EDIT:No cops. A ranger who was a good bastard

Well i'm back home, bike washed and away, and shoving some well earned dinner in my face. Ute can wait til tomorrow for a clean, rubbed most of the giant penises off though Now it just says "I wish my GF was this dirty!" down the side of it

Was a most excellent day, had an absolute blast, and no cops to be seen. Had some awesome fun giving her a real windout (first ride since the rebuild), playing in the waves, running through the potholes, and whoopin it around in the soft stuff (faceplants included! ) And had far too much fun seeing the 450's blast off ahead, and just rolling on into powerband and drifting past them as they wound it out She goes bloody well for a little 200cc trail bike Have a rough idea of her top speed now (after keepin with the GPX on a straightaway), and it scares me to think about it...
And now i know for next time that she'll run for about 2h before hittin reserve (only just hit it about 3-5 min before we got back to the entrance )

Bloody chain pissed me off a bit, stretched a country mile in the time we were out, smashed a couple of teeth off the front sprocket. Oh well, they would have needed doing in a few rides anyways, so will just do the whole lot now. Gettin a big grunty O-ring chain for sure

All in all, a bloody good day. Been wanting to go for a blast up the beach for ages, but didnt really wanna head off by myself. Now i know what to expect i will have to do it again sometime

EDIT: Pics will be up in a while... Food takes priority

    Fucking mint day.
We only got stuck entering the beach, on the beach, and exiting the beach.

I don't think I'll ever be doing it again sans nobblies though!

Binned the bike twice, once while being forced over into the soft sand and getting extremely wobbly until I couldn't control it.
The other time was when I got a bit too confident plowing through the puddles, they got progressively bigger till there was one so big that it completely stopped the front wheel.
Snapped off the top of my wind shield and twisted my forks out of alignment.
All good after a clean up and tool up at andrews.
    Photos soon.. (possibly a video)

May I also say that you dirt bikers are crazy fuckers!

Was a great day. Quite a work out trying to get to the beach, but once there it was smooth going (maybe not for all of us).

Props to the dirt bikers, there were some impressive jumps and crashes on those dunes.

    Yes... Yes you may

You were doing bloody awesome on that bike man, even i was struggling a little in those potholes where they got bigger just before you binned it. Took some serious balls to do that on a road bike!

Awesome photo's. Will have to post mine up later, gotta get ready for a swim-ride up to kaiiwi lakes!

What annoys me is that the one I crashed on was the LAST one of a set of like 20.
    Almost made it eh!
I didn't have the luxury of being able to turn like you dirt bikes, I had to go straight ahead or slow all the way down and turn.

Erm, with the amount of time my tires were in contact with terra firma through there, i couldnt turn either! had trouble with the front hittin them a bit hard, so just gave it MOAR POWAR!!! came through it alirght in the end, despite snapping both ends off a bungy cord and dropping the fuel can in the sand

I think we have all come to the agreement that I need more power.

We all needed maor power. And most of us needed moar knobs.

The potholes were decidedly disconcerting. I didn't encounter them at all on the way up, so they were a bit of a surprise on the way back. I think I was leading on the way up, obviously picked a better route. They were bad enough that they totally dislodged my careful and well engineered luggage stowage.

It was not so much a mtter of not being able to turn to avoid the hole, but that , no matter which way one turned, turning just headed one straight into another hole! And they didn't LOOK that bad. Until you hit them. I was sure I was going to rupture a kidney or something.
