    Sexy new 136bhp V-twin Laverda

    SFC1000 at Milan

The newest Laverda was put on show at the Milan show mainly to gauge opinion, as it’s still in its final design stages. The bike features the Aprilia Mille 60∞ V-twin engine housed in a tig-welded, chromium molybdenum, lattice frame with milled billet side plates. The gorgeous Italian, draped in carbon fibre, titanium and brushed ally, looks like it will take on its Tuono R brother directly. Ohlins suspension front and rear with radially mounted brakes add to its seductive lines and performance potential. The full titanium exhaust system exists under the seat with two huge cannon size silencers, along with a circular LED tail light, to give the Laverda a rear end that would make Kylie weep with jealousy.

The SFC name has its roots with the famous Laverda racing twins of the 70’s, and the newest SFC shares the twin headlight design and orange paintwork. However, Laverda may need to put some work into the front fairing design as it does look like the kind of mess you get when Taz the Tasmanian devil meets a with a wall whilst in a full spitting-spinning rage. If it goes into production expect to see it around 2005, and cost similar to that of the Aprilia Tuono R at around £13k.

I think the shape and colour are gorgeous. Orange is not to everyone's liking but it is one of the most visible colours along with Kawasaki's green (yuk). As for the cute little front lightey/whiteys, I feel that I want to lick them.

reminds me of a certain clown fish on at the movies right now....

looks like a tuono after an acid trip. I'm a fan of italian V-twins but not sure about that one... maybe the colour and those damn fish eye headlights don't do it for me.

Laverda's traditional racing colour has always been orange.

The headlights are, I think, projector beam units as on some cars. They don't photogragh well but look much better, well not so strange, in "real life".

All the "Aprilia" company bikes are just cosmetic mutations of the rsv. That's how they keep the prices lower than their italian coumterparts, it's just the same bike in different plastic clothes over and over.

    No offence Aprilia fans.
