    Hi and welcome to KB.

I bought an America in 2004 for the summer. It was fun, it was cool, it was comfortable and certainly worthwhile having owned. But...yes, it was sadly lacking when it came to an incline or overtaking. I don't think that you will find the newer 865cc fuel injected Triumph cruiser models are a leap ahead either.

If you can afford new then the latest Harley XR1200 may be the ticket. Or a surprise for me recently was test riding the Moto Guzzi Bellagio, but's that's way overpriced compared to the Harley. The Bellagio has the ground clearance, handling and power over most other two cylinder cruisers I'd say.

I have had a short ride on the XR1200 and it's a big improvement on the 1200 Sportster I owned many years ago. A good looking, pleasantly comfortable cruiser with far more oomph to overtake than an America/Speedmaster. Do a search, I think there is a detailed write up on here by James Deuce/JimTwo/Jimmy double.

Of course if you want THE power cruiser then get a mortgage on a new V-Max

But if you like the whole british twin thing but want a bit more grunt there is a new model coming...the new Triumph Thunderbird - do a search on this site for info on it or see your Triumph dearler.
Or you could check out Thunderbike in Nelson who make a whole range of extras to give your current bike more go.
Experience......something you get just after you needed it
