I recon he uses the gsxr1000 coz they were .........(here we go)........the biggest HP sport bike available...plus he goes in straight lines so handling and brakes aint an issue.

or who knows it may all be a marketing ploy(sp) by suzuki

I also agree with this, the gsxr is a much tamer animal...more suited to the faint hearted

No Arron far from it .
Look Dude I have owned over 53 bike 90% of then modified . Not to sure how many you have owned . The only reason I brought the GSXR over the R1 is that the GSXR simply has a motor that no other bike has . RAW, NASTY , & out right ANGRY . 04 R1 handled better but motor was not right for me .
Not in power just feel !! My old 1100R had been Stage 3 kitted & was alot like my new 1000 for pure power & raw grunt . Even you would have freaked with what it could do . Was the Fastest bike in Taranki for some time .

    What, only 159rwhp? Pfft
But I KNOW what Sensei is talking about. The 03 Gixxer (and 04/05 I'm guessing) have very raw engines. And, their power is all there, all the time (like I said on my Buell / Gixxer write up after testride). Since I'm a newer rider, I like my R1 because if I keep it under 8K rpm, it's gentle and easy to ride.

(When I go over 8K rpm, please move out of my way Sensei) haha

{pt} If Suzuki sort their shit out, and make the 06, or 07 Gixxer look good, I may just get one??? Who knows. They are just too plain for me. (all '04 1000cc sport bikes are farking mad/fast, that being Yam, Suz, Kaw and Hon)

What was the one that had 5 guys going through europe on a Busa, R1, Blackbird, ZX10, ahhh crap cant remember the last bike. The Busa lasted till the end but the rest crapped out. Not sure if it was ghost rider one or some other one. All going hard out, doing stunts at every town they passed.

Ok > Stonechucker & Arron we shouldn't be taking the Piss out of each other but taking it out of all the people that don't own R1's / GSXR / ZX / CBR's These are the one's that don't know about real bikes . Oyea & it does take Fucken Skill to ride a 1000cc bike at 300k in a straight line .
Arron you'll know what I'm talking about . Not as easy as it sounds ! & believe it or not we can go round corner fast as well

    careful :)

You're going to offend everyone who hasn't got a sportbike I haven't quite hit 300 yet I need a bigger run up at the next flying quarters. A couple of factors have limited me to an indicated 292

When is the next 1/4 and flying event on?

I liked the way a number of bike mags compared the power of the new litre bikes.

R1 was like a Lamborghini, CBR like a Ferrari, ZX10 porsche, and the GSXR like a Dodge Viper.

All about the same HP but go about delivering it different ways.

I personally like raw grunt - Viper style.

I like the comparisons you've quoted. They remind me of a similar article in a UK mag a couple of years ago. It compared my bike, a Blackbird, to a Bentley Continental Turbo, in that it goes like shit, accelerates really fast, yet is built like a house on wheels (without the spa bath that is). I'd imagine the same applies to a Busa.

While my bike will get up to around the 300's it is not the best bike for handling tight corners. This is R1 and GXR country. But it does love long fast sweepers. As do I.

There’s an interesting thread running on UK forum at the moment. A guy with a Blackbird is adamant that his bike is faster than an R1 (in standard guise), in that it out accelerates it and because the Bird’s top speed is higher (UK spec bikes). But this is just crap for real world riding, because once you throw some twisty bits in the R1 is way faster than a Bird.

But the debate over the performance of bikes is somewhat irrelevant, in that it is the rider of the bike that makes it go fast, and I'm not all the proficient at really fast riding. I'm more of a high-speed cruiser.

Sorry Sensei, I was referring to the poster that would prefer an RGV250 over an R1. Asking that he had never ridden an R1.
Anyway, think you would all be better off on a Honda 600 .....
