    Cruiser 250 for learner?

Ok, I'm looking for a 250 cruiser for the Mrs and here are the choices so far!
    Hyosung GV250, Yamaha XV250 or a Suzuki VL250.

I was leaning towards the Yamaha, but unfortunately there's no longer a dealer local. The Hyosung is dearer than the other two which actually suprised me, but if they're better, I'd like to hear about it!

She has her 6L, but next to no riding experience, so input from current or past owner's would be greatly appreciated. We're looking at a purchasing new!

    Cheers!

    Hello Owl

I've just recently purchased a VL last november 08. You can have a look at the thread I posted to keep me from repeating myself.

    http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...ing+excitement

Blossom and FattMax are VL owners and they can positively vouch for the VL as being an excellent bike to learn on.

I've just done my first 1000kms and done my first 1000km service on the bike so i will post up my findings about what I've discovered that should help in your decision.

Whatever you pick they are all good choices.

    The VL250 rocks!

No problems learning on it, and your missus will get lots of compliments from strangers for having a mad bike...

My preference for the Hyosung was that it's a bit larger, and I preferred the styling.

Cheers Horse! I just found out at lunchtime that she checked one out at Anza, but doesn't really like it. Not keen on the styling and found the seat too wide or something?

I had a VL 250 and sat my learners and restricted on it. I loved it ! in fact,.... I wish I hadn't got rid of it now. So easy to ride and oh my god so forgiving....... I made so many newbie mistakes on the bike when I first started riding it.... riding round with the choke still on, etc etc..... and never had a problem with the engine and it was already used when I brought it ! Was very hard to stall too.

I just bought an '08 VL250 also to finish my license . Highley recommend it but for me felt light riding a feather after my 800 Vulcan.
It's better to have ridden and crashed, than never to have ridden at all....R.I.P. Bruce Bennett (old fart-KB.) 1955-2005 posted by Bronwyn Bennett.

I am the proud owner of a VL250 and in my opinion is the best 250cc cruiser out there.

The minister of War and finance (ie, the wife) made sure I researched the market before parting with the dosh so I spent a couple of months checking them all out.

There are quite a few out there on the road so they are a popoular and reliable bike.

Good luck with the purchase mate, hope all goes well

    Cheers all!

It looks like she has her heart set on the VL! I checked one out yesterday, but it was still in a crate and should be assembled sometime today. I just hope they're prepared to move on price because the new one's are listed at $6995, yet there are plenty still around at the old price of $6100. If that fails we'll visit Wanganui!

Hope you get yours at the old pricing. I was one of the lucky last to get it at $6100. Even at $6995, its a lot of quality for that money I feel, but thats just me. What color is she going with?

Wow. Has it gone up that much? Damn exchange rate eh..

When I looked at one for the first time, the price was $5900. The next week when I went to buy one it had gone up to $6100...
