Travel time? Hamilton to Whangamomona return

Anyone have any ideas how long it would take to do the Forgotten Highway from Hamilton.

Is a day trip possible?

Would be considering a look down Whangamomona Road to Aotuhia and the Bridge to Somewhere (approx 20kms) which i gather is pretty rough.

Whanga would be about 4 hours from Hamihole either way. Easy day trip with a look around!

yep .. done it 4 or 5 times .... t'is a longish day trip .. but a trip nonetheless

about 7 hours return trip

edit: not counting for excursions ... I and tarmac kind of a guy y'know

Or do independance day and stay for a week !

Eddie, depends which way you are thinking of going, I would try for Raglan, down the west coast to Awakino and then back inland to Whangamomona. Thats probably a good 6 hours riding and the sealed route back via Taumaranui would be another 3 hours. Mucking around time down there, who knows, but allow a couple of hours.

Leave hamilton at 6am and you have at least 14 hours of daylight to play with.
