Average insurance cost?

I was just wondering what people got for their insurance quotes, so I can judge where I'm standing...

I'm a noob, bwahaha! I've got a 1993 Honda CB250, Learners and I'm under 21. So I was curious to compare what others were quoted/are paying for Comprehensive.

Thanks for the welcome I was quoted $330 by State, which I think is pretty reasonable for an L-Plater with no official experience.

It's only for 2k though, but most places in Australia wouldn't even Insure you...Excess is pretty heavy though xD

I got my '84 CB250N insured for full cover with AMI after a month on my learners (I'm 23) and I was paying $32/month. I have my contents with them so I think I got about $5/month off too. They sent me a thing with their annual insurance policy update and they dropped it down to $20/month now.

So bottom line, its sfa for insurance for an old 250

Heh, try my my premiums. $1084 a year (insured for 7.5k).
But keep in mind I'm a convicted drunk driver (only three years to go before I don't have to declare) and under 25.

Have a look at insurance through the Honda Riders Club. They go through Vero insurance in the end.

I just insured my VTR250Y for $4500 comprehensive for $300 a year.

I'm on a learner license, and I have a rather questionable history as well.
All seem to go through without issue, however I was entirely upfront and all previous charges were from a car.

Taken from email correspondence:

Standard Premium for $4,500 cover is $250.00 but I suspect this will be loaded by 20% taking it to $300 for the first year. Excess is $250.00 plus $300.00 for being under 25 so total excess is $550.00. This is comprehensive cover and includes an allowance of up to $5000.00 for your gear - helmet, boots .etc and also $1000 for accessories and $1000 for keys and locks.

I think State is a very decent insurance company and I have always had good quotes from them on cars.

My current bike which is my first, a Kawasaki ZXR 250 costs $6,500, I am paying $341 for full cover. I'm on my learners and under 25.

Hey, just insured through Kiwibike brokers with Lumley for around $420 a year fully comp with $500 excess, AA were slow as to get back to me and a couple of other cheaper cos wouldn't insure a learner. Like all insurance, check the wording... I'm new on the bike.... great idea for a thread!

I couldn't get insurance for my 2004 GSX 250 on my learners and I'm over 25.

I suspect the lady in the Philipines on the phone didn't know anything at all about the graduated license system here, as she seemed to think it was illegal to ride anything over 50 cc on a learner's licence???

I tried to explain that was if you had a car licence but I don't think I succeeded.

I've heard State are good and reasonable.

I'm very interested to hear if anyone else is insured with the AA.

I called to renew my car insurance and wanted to add the bike on too, but the lady said no go!

NAC insurance comprehensive for an 83' cbx250rs under 21 learners licence at $232 all up :-)

How did you get that? When I go through the online quote process, State tell me they wont insure any owners on a learners licence!!

I have my scorpio insured with State for $2400, full cover, for $108 a year. I'm on a learners, over 25, and have a no-claims bonus inherited from my car, as well as a discount for having house/contents with them too. I forget what the excess is (maybe $750?).

I talked to state too, They changed their system about a year ago so that it automatically rejects anyone on a learners licence, wheras previously they were able to consider it on a case by case basis. Really not cool - I'd rather have every driver insured thanks!
