    T2 Lanes again!

    Hi all,

Just posting because I know their was a bit of discussion surrounding the legality of riding in the T2 transit lanes on the on-ramps of Auckland's motorways.

I got pulled over by a cop today using the T2 lane on the SE-Arterial transit lane onto SH1 heading north towards town.

He said "I don't want to have a discussion, you can't use these lanes next time i'll give you a ticket"
Me "I don't wish to be disrespectful but I believe that I can"
Him "No you can't... you don't have a passenger and you're not a truck"

I told him I had been advised that it was legal for Motorbikes and that he should check with his Sergeant or higher ups.

I know a few guys on here (Ixion) are tight with BRONZ so I think we need to try to make sure this is clarified.... if we are allowed to use them then the bloody cops should be told... If not (and that is fine with me) then I will stop using them.

    Thanks for you time.

Attached letter posted tonight to NZ Police.

If they ignore it (they probably will) I'll rev them up with the Police Complaints Authority.

Obviously, write and object tot he ticket. All the info you will need is in the letter.

Good letter Ixion. And you didn't use too many big words, either. He should be able to understand.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

The cop didn't give me a ticket... he was giving me a verbal warning.... he had pulled over another motorbike and two cars as well.... he was wandering all over the Southern Motorway on foot in order to do this..... very unsafe I thought.

    Great letter and clarification Ixion!

I must say I'm also impressed at the frank letter and internal rectification action taken by the Polis as well!!

Good result by all I'd say!

If it wasn't for a concise set of rules, we might have to resort to common sense!
