Talking "Designed and intended for show bikes and display purposes only."

    Eclipse Number Plate Blackout Frame

Designed and intended for show bikes and display purposes only. The Eclipse License Plate Frame has a clear glass panel that goes dark with the flip of a dash or fairing, mounted switch. A red LED light indicates when The Eclipse is dark, so you wont accidently ride off with the license plate obscured. 12v powered - includes wiring, fuse, switch, LED, controller and instructions.

A little bit of a more advanced solution than home-made brackets that swing up when you pull a cord. :P But I think if you got pulled over, a cop might ... accidentally knock it?

p.s. $346AUD from Aus Motorcycle Components

    A bit pointless

It needs to go instantly black the minute it gets within range of a speed camera or maybe a radar. I reckon my money's better spent on a radar detector.
Reality is an illusion encouraged by consensus.

I have great doubts that it's street-legal. The site it's off says The Eclipse is not legal for street or public road use., which is always a bad sign.

You could potentially rig it up to a radar detector's alarm output, so when it went off, it set the plate to black out untill you reset it with a switch. Simple logic ICs. Hehehe...
