Ban on radar detectors being considered

On "Stuff" this morning -the link is http://www.stuff.co.nz/4816468a11.html

Whatever your view, there is a poll there, where you can vote. I'd suggest you at least vote to show the media and Government what you think.

My view is that, as the Police say, they still catch people with detectors, - so why not leave the status quo, and give Professional Drivers a fair go.

    Vote or don't post!

Do you really think anyone with the power to ban radar detectors gives a flying fuck about a poll on stuff.co.nz?

We should just ban crashing and cancer and be done with it.

I vote no, it makes it way more of a sport! Police play the game by turning there radars off and on...

The Police are delightfully contradictory in their comments about radar detectors. In one breath they say that they don't prevent speeders getting caught, and in another they want them banned.

If, as the Police suggest, radar detectors are an indicator of a driver's propensity to exceed the posted legal limits, then why aren't they also calling for a ban on small penises?

In the bigger picture of things, banning would do sfa. There are far better measures that could be introduced to bring down the road toll

I voted NO but i only exceed the speed limit when my attention wanders !
What were we voting for again ?
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

a light, humorous play in which the plot depends upon a skillfully exploited situation rather than upon the development of character.

Such as harsher penalties for drink driving; and mandatory driver training with regular refresher courses. But the regulators aren't planning on dealing with either of those any time soon. Just like they appear to have no intention of dealing with the abysmal safety record of trucks.
