No singles? Only real Guzzi's are twins?
I took the cover off my Stornello last week....not looking very good so long in storage and neglected.I will be showing these photos to Pete Kelly next weekend at Puke,he expressed interest in it last year, and asked for a copy of my owners manual.Time to get rid of my last connection to the past.

Good call, Dangerous.
I get so much crap about having a "tractor" when Guzzi have done far more innovation than most other manufacturers put together !!!
"...you meet the weirdest people riding a Guzzi !!..."
That's a nice pic. Think it's from a UK 'retro' helmet manufacturer.
As for 'tractor', well, f'k 'em. I've had that crap for years because of my long line of Harleys (newer ones are actually disappointingly refined - like riding a Jap bike).
Came back from a ride on the Guzzi at the weekend and said to my wife, if I'd discovered this bike / brand years ago I could've saved myself a fortune. Tractor? FFS... About as orignial as riding a CBR. Bikers can be such dicks.
yip and as an example lets look at the very 1st Guzzi the G.P in 1920
cast in aluminium
3 speed
helical gears
over square
reverse geared primary drive (less vibration and more compact)
oil pump driven by the cam suplying to air cooled tank
muiltie plate clutch lubed by oil mist
drive chain auto lube
4 valve head
OHC
twin spark
tubular frame twin front down tube
girder twin sprung forks

Yes,I think a lot of Guzzi owners are a bit um....shallow? They are into the V twin image and just don't seem to grasp the history of the marque. The Stornello was designed by Mr Whatzziznameo, and the head design in particular is very similar to the twins.
I got the Stornello brand new in 1978,so it's been with me for some time. There were some 125 Stornello trail bikes sold in Chch - do any turn up down there?
I'd really like a V twin - but I went for an airhead as being a more realistic price, and more adaptable to my purposes.

I think I remember that V8 you mentioned. In fact, I've got a pic...
By the way, I suppose you know about www.v11lemans.com? Good Guzzi forum (well, for later bikes it is anyway).
THIS is the work of art !!!
V8 from 1957 (I think)
(Oh yes, that forum is good !!)

It's a '74 - we found 5 of them in storage (in the back of a car yard) and got all 5 in '78.Yes,it's a five speed - they are a very well built engine, they have a massive wide primary gear drive, using the cam gear in the primary drive. It appears they have a weak crank....one we got as spares in parts had a broken flywheel mag side mainshaft. Then mine broke too - I had a new mainshaft made for it.
They were pretty fast in the day,I could clean up most Jap stuff under 250cc on it.I had it out on Pukekohe once and ran both speedo and tacho around to the stops.I highsided it once and smashed the instrument mount, hence no instruments...I've always been getting around to making a stainless one.

Nice black V11 parked up in Christchurch today with a Just Motorcycles sticker on it (wont' say where in case it's regularly parked there).
Is it anybody's from here???
That'll be the one. At the hospital. Jolly nice indeed.
