Not wind but melted tar did it for me.

Had a fantastic days riding from Wanaka over the Haast pass and up to the glaciers. Stopped for a coffee (it was piss poor coffee too) and parked bike up on the side of the road.

Heard the sickly sound of a falling bike and rushed over to find her toppled against the next car in the park

No scratches but the mirror had broken off. It appears that the tar had melted and the foundation underneath was non-existant. The side stand had gone through the tarseal and about 5cm into the road. I kinda expect the stand to dig a hole if I park on grass, but not a sealed car park

Reminds me - 'the other biker at work' and I had our bikes parked outside last week. On two warm days, his CBR1000RRR had made a hole in the asphalt with the sidestand, while mine left nary a mark. We had a conference about it (lasted for...oooh.... weeks) and couldn't work it out. The CBRRRR was lighter, lower, and had a similar sidestand foot size. Must've been something about the leverage his bike exerted on the sidestand.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

    Yup,
    Has happened to me.

CBR got blown onto it's RHS. The top faring hit the curb and broke... along with the clip-on.
$500 for the faring and paint... and $100 for the clip-on....

Darn hard to pick up and manoeuvre with a broken clip-on too. Had to leave it at work and get a ride in the GF's cage... cried the whole way home!
Yes, I cry when machinery gets damaged.

So I really feel for all of you who have had the wind blow your pride and joy over.
