Today I discovered what some people call "the joy of engine braking". Now dont get me wrong im sure it has its place but lets just say that it didnt work for me too well today....
This weekend I took ownership of an FXR150. I've bought this bike to be my commuter/bucket racer while saving for a "real" bike. All going well and as intended it will cost me less than half of what the train has cost to get to work. This means that I will be able to afford to complete both the Vic Club streetstock series and an entire bucket racing season!
I took it out for a couple of hours riding today and discovered a few things about my riding that I hadnt realised.... Its no secret that I love 2 smokers. Its also no secret that I destroy them. Im hoping that I have better luck with the 4 stroke.
In true Hels style, this bike has not electric start and needs to be kicked over. I can kick start most 2 smokers in 1 or 2 kicks usually, not the wee FXR! I stalled it a couple of times. What kinda of bike doesnt like having the revs snotted out of it at the lights?!?!! Apparently just cause you cant hear it, it doenst mean that its stopped. Made for a couple of embarrasing moments at the lights on the motorway!
Anyway, once I got used to this little thing I had fun! It's gonna make a great commuter and will be fun on the hill as well as on the buckets. Once I have my "real" bike I will be stripping him down and doing him up!
Thanks must go to EJ for making the sale so easy and for letting him go for a great price. Cheers mate. Best of luck in ChCh. You'll need it!![]()
