Sooooo anyone near Katikati want to do me a favour?

    Hey Team

I get my full in march and am looking at an Aprilia Pegaso that's for sale in Katikati. Could I twist someones arm to go have a look at the bike for me as Christchurch is a long ways away.....

I'll be in K Town visiting the olds in two weeks time if I can assist in any way.

We should come home from our adventures having faced their perils and uncertainties, endured their discomfort and beaten the odds, with a sly acknowledgment and revitalised solidarity of character.

Thanks for the plug, Mark. Yes, the bike is a minter, my friend Dave is (almost) as anal as me.

great ride report on advrider from a couple of guys rfom Latvia on Pegasos.

Give us a bit of info on them. There aren't many around but look sharp. What would they compare to the closest - bm650gs?

    Pegaso info

Same wheel size as F650GS but similarity stops dead there.....More power, smoother engine, better handling, way more style, ALMOST as expensive new...BUT...it doesn't have the "BMW" label on the (faux) tank. Just goes to prove, as if Microsoft haven't already, that marketing is EVERYTHING. If these had been a few grand cheaper, and made by a company with the same owners for longer than a month, could have been a different story.

It will be a totally different kettle of fish to the Djebel in the rough.
Hook up with awayatc when he's home in Rangiora for a look at a pegaso in an adventuring environment in person.

Second that. I have a Pegaso Trail (they also come in a Strada or street version with 17inch cast wheels front and rear) and have done 32,000km in 18 mths. Great motor (very similar to that in the Yam XT660), although it doesn't have the top end of a KTM 640, it has serious low end grunt and is very smooth. Needs a Powercommander fitted to sort out terrible fuelling due to European environmental controls. Main issue is that it is a bit heavy for difficult off-road and damge would be more expensive to fit than on a DR.

IIRC, awayatc has the earlier version, which has the 5-valve Rotax motor similar to BMW Funduro.

Here is a report of a trip around the North Island.
