Street Bob
Street Bob
"If you haven't grown up by the time you turn 50, you don't have to!"
Here's the thing with the street bob, a popular choice it would seem.I tried one and I liked it but.... Please correct me if I'm wrong but the super glide is basically the same bike isn't it, so unless I'm misinformed, the Super has more ground clearance, very important to me, the Supers speedo is on the bars not the tank another winner, the paint job/graphics are marginally better on the Super and I much prefer the mag type wheels as opposed to the wire jobs on the Street Bob and the Super is a couple of grand cheaper.
So the way my mind works is buy a super, with the money you save over the street bob, put mini ape hangers on and you've got yourself a street bob but so much better, Does that make sense or is the plan flawed somewhere? It has been known.![]()
Oh bugger
I think some of the main differences are purely cosmetic, such as less chrome, the matte finish, wrinkle-black motor etc, but I'm pretty sure the Streetbob has thicker forks.
Als far as clearance goes, I have fitted a set of 2 into 1 V&H's, and that gives me more clearance all down one side.
Anyway, if you customised a Superglide to a Streetbob, you'd have to badge it as a Superglob, and that doesn't sound quite right.

welcome aboard marty !!
Brilliant, I quite fancy a Superglob.
If I fitted a big bore stage two kit, I'd have a lightweight good looking reasonably good handling, 80-90 HP bobber. Could be a hoot, not quite as pretty as a fatty but a bloody good bike on paper.
We may have invented the 'next big thing' between us SG. Don't be surprised if you see the Superglob thread on here sometime this year. Then again BDs superglide sport mmm, if I find a good one when the time to deal comes along, who knows.
JR completely undecided about the Cross bones, I really don't know if I love it or Hate it.
Oh bugger
Road an sport in Hamihole had/have? a crossbones slightly modded,a few xtra parts painted black to carry on the blacked out theme and a wicked looking aftermarket pipe, + a normal gunfighter seat...man it is beautiful..
I wasn't a fan just looking at pics but in real life.......
I'd be in the same boat as you Martybabe trying to pick a new Harley..
a mate has night rod (with skinier rear tyre) and he absolutly loves it,
heapsa grunt and good handling compared to a Bigblock..
Another mate traded his 03 vrod on a new night rod (wide tyre)
hes since sold it due not liking the handling of the wide tyre model,
another mate has an old fxr with a 107cui S&s motor loves it to.....
what to get to suit ya self, hmmmmmm

Yer spot on there mate, don't know how I feel about the Cross bones but I'm reserving judgement until I see one in the flesh, I've a feeling it may be a stunner in real life.
I must agree with you and I wasn't specific enough, the night rod special with the fat rear is a rather peculiar handler, whereas the Night Rod with the slimmer backside handles much better IMO.
I ain't complaining, I'm a really lucky bastard to have the choice, I've just got to be sure I get the right one for me and choosing is working out a little harder than anticipated.
Thanks for your input, this thread is actually really helping me zero in on what I really want.
Oh bugger
I'd love to be in your position... hmm what new harley to buy??????
test rides galore...
I liked a mates 02 Duece i rode a while ago, did have a 1550 high flow kit in it tho.
can go round corners well with the right pilot.
myself i'd most likely go for a night train...softtail rear blacked out engine..nice
or maybe a street bob?
what about a crossbones?
or a wideglide?
fatboy?
or maybe one of those Victory's
(was checking them out at Kumeu hotrod show.NICE)
shit lucky for me i ain't got the money to decide yet..................
Its just to hard to decide..

I'm mostly leaning towards a worked over Superglide then come about 4 models in equal 2nd place but then there's bikes like the one below that keep shouting me me!
I think this is gorgeous, apart from the darn silly handlebars.
Oh bugger
Which Harley??
