Still to see one in the flesh, until someone stocks them within riding range of my one horse town I doubt they'll be on the short list. They do look cool though.

My picks would be for looks a black and white Softtail Delux. but for ground clearance a fat bob or wideglide / superglide / lowrider, but they are nowere as good lookin as the Delux.

I think you've got me bang to rights HB but I reserve the right to change my mind if I fall in love with another model after test riding a few.

I've got this special paint job in mind, it's been niggling away at me for years so any plain old fatty or Heritage will do but your dead right the deluxe is gorgeous.

Thanks everyone, I've got to wait for a few things to drop into place before the choosing begins nothings ever simple eh. I'll let you know what I end up with later in the year, All the best.

Fat boys are like big ol' muscle cars.
Beautiful if you set up for the corners correctly - ugly if you don't.

Which Harley is best? How do you want to ride, what do you want to do? Can i assume you will still get your speed fix from your gixer then what do you want the Harley for? Go and ride them they all bring a different attitude. I rode a few and I have a fatboy. Perfect for long runs, comfortable and easy to ride. It suits me and what I want to do. You make up your own mind. i have views on all the bikes but they are mine and you need to get what works for you. As you said, you only want to own one.

Good luck and yes, mine is different from all the others (no pics available)

I will be keeping my gsx1400 as a do everything bike but I cannot make up my mind which Harley I should have.

I really like the look of the fatboy pre fat rear wheel and I have a special paint job in mind but I'm well aware of their shortcomings as a riding tool.

My heart belongs to a customised Fatboy/Heritage but my head belongs where?

Which of all the Harley models is the best to ride guys, on paper it looks like the superglide, not too heavy, highest ground clearance and a speedo where you need it.

I doubt I will be in the position to choose another Hog so I've got to get this one right. Looks wise nothing touches a customised Fatty for me but my head will ultimately decide based on which is the easiest to live with .

So what is the best grin factor Harley guys and why ? I will of course test ride whatever I can get my hands on but I'd really like to know what you guys thing is the best of the bunch. Thanks
    One word of advice; patience.

After being without bikes for some time we floated around bike shops and websites with the cash trying very hard to burn holes in our pockets. We waited, waited and waited some more. I don't know what your budget is but bargains are to be had and we were lucky enough to get two. First up was a 2007 1200 Custom EFI (rubber-mounted engine) Sportster for the female half of this team, it came with smooth rims, heated grips, a wee pack rack and a few other goodies, 12,000k's on the dial and sexy blue paint. Next was a big block for yours truly, a 2000 Wideglide with just 19,000k's on the dial, some aesthetic enhancements, washable air filter, re-calibrated carb, drilled mufflers, axle caps and shit like that, mint condition for $16.5. Both were bargains but you have to have cash in hand and be on the ball to get them.

The 1200 EFI Sporty is peppy and nimble to a degree (not enough ground clearance for either of us) and the W/g needs a suspension makeover but both are damned sexy bikes. HD's are the kind of machine that offers the basics for an over-inflated price but once you understand that and get over it the tinkering begins. If you like to tinker, spend, and have some fun then you won't be disappointed. My Twin Cam W/g has gobs of torque compared to the Evo FXR I had but you can whack a big-bore kit on the 88ci engine if you want more, it's an easy weekend spanner throwing sesh.

If you need help/advice PM me and I'll be as helpful as I can. Ignore the doomsayers, ride what you want/love and go catch some bugs.

    Cheers

Ya reckon? I think it's a sick corporate take on a genre with 'real' roots. I'm a Harley fan generally but sometimes they take good things and make them bad, especially in the retail sense. Nobody would build THAT in the shed. It should have been called the 'Shocker'.
