Glad you're O.K., thank goodness you were alert and ready for it.

See Jim2s post from last post on Fast and Safe thread - you're experience adds weight to his comments.

So is he going to be charged with careless driving, failure to give way or what??

Glad you're all right frosty, i've had a few close calls but I prefer to not get that close.

I find that doesn't work, just watch their wheels and you'll be fine.

That was your mistake right there.

You might have thought you had eye contact, he was more than likely looking straight past you.

This is something we should all take heed of - do a search through the forum and see how many people have been knocked off by a driver they'd swear black blue "saw me because I had eye contact, so it was 'all good'"

DON'T think for a second that alleged eye contact means you can proceed through an intersection safely. Treat all cagers like they're out to murder you and you'll last a lot longer with your rubber side down.

A capper indeed! Love that bit - and I can imagine that he got a bit of an earful about how she could have been injured if you hadn't braked so hard (which she could well have been, if you'd done the flying headbutt through her window...)
Good to hear you're alright, but bloody annoying all the same.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

Yep, never trust what you think is "eye contact", been there -done that, the dude on the side road on my left looked straight at me (I was on my push-bike) but I had an inkling (sp) he hadn't seen me so I moved out towards the centre line, sure enough he pulled out and if I had been on my original track he would have cleaned me up.
As he had his window down I pulled alongside and just said "Careful" and the bugger near shit himself, pulled over up the road and got out the car holding his chest saying "shit, sorry mate, never saw you"
WTF I was the ONLY item on his right that was moving!

The 'perceived threat' thing would have made a difference in this case i.e. big truck.

Glad to hear you are alright and reacted quick enough to avoid much harm.

A similar thing happened to me one morning, I was lanesplitting and this crazy kid on a scooter (wearing school shorts, shirt, roman sandels and a scratched up helmet with no visor) just pulls out infront of me and stops, I slammed on breaks and came to a screaching halt about 10cm from him.

Would expect it from a car, but not from somebody on two wheels aye.

Yeah Right! I nearly got taken out last week while lane splitting by another rider who decided that the cars were a mobile chicane. The other rider was splitting across one lane to my right when he spotted that a tiny advantage could be gained by cutting across (at right angles) the front of a car and into the gap that I was splitting through. Would have t-boned me apart from the fact that I saw him coming and braked hard. Don't think he knew I was there for a moment. It's not just cage drivers who don't see.

If you have the guys details you could always claim that the forks are bent. I would imagine factory parts from Japan for your bike would amount to more than the thing was worth, get it written off then buy it back.

you must be one scary looking beast!!

hopefully near misses like this teach cagers, and us as well, of the dangers of pulling out into a seemingly empty road. Always check once more to be certain, and always expect the bugger to decide to turn in front of you.

The law requires any non injury accident

to be reported within 48 hrs I think. I reckon he'd be a dead cert for driving without due care and a ttention..or at least driving with insufficient brain activity.....

Apart from all the crap and inconveniance the fucker still blames you. That's good enough to report and see that he is charged. Could have been worse and he would still have blamed you................if you get 'ma' drift.

...deserves a smack up side the head! WTF?!?

Perhaps he'll develop major anxiety and never be able to drive again but going by the arrogance of his statement up there I'd say not, unfortunately :disapint:
