DON'T think for a second that alleged eye contact means you can proceed through an intersection safely. Treat all cagers like they're out to murder you and you'll last a lot longer with your rubber side down.
Hear where you're coming from dude,I figure I'm processing information pretty darn fast-as does every biker.I was on the brakes as a reaction to his wheels twitching that extra bit to get into the sideroad.

Bugger. I knew I had that in the wrong order.

After Cambridge going south there is a stretch of road that is nearly just a layer of tar. Dam shat myself when i slipped on it yesterday. You would think they would of put a new seal on it by now as it is highway 1.

I agree... but what I expect and what I experience out there are two different things. I quite like the Peter Brock approach - work on driving (in our case riding) perfectly. When you get that right you will be safe/start winning etc.

Unfortunately there are others on the road that may not share the same mindset or experience.

Frosty, glad to hear you're intact dude.

I got a call from the guy today. It seems hes putting in an insurance claim for the damage. He wants to know my insurance company because I was speeding-otherwise I wouldn't have hit him.
He's a tadd Upset that I reported the "incident" to the cops
He's also a tadd upset that the person going down the road alongside him saw it all and just happened to be a customer. She couldnt believe he did it.
Bugger me --the damage to my front tyre and rim may just be a little bit worse than I initially thought.

I would also expect you'd have bent forks from this.

If they are seriously straight, lend it to me and I'll get them nicely bent for you

glad you're ok frosty, this sort of atttitude from car drivers pisses me off, doubtless the guy has never ridden a bike, they just don't have 4 bloody wheels to brake on , I hope your forks aren't bent or the seals leaking after your encounter, i would think it wouldn't do much for the front end of your bike eh, make him pay for your tyre etc

    Death cometh sooner or late
And how can a man die better
    Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods

Ive dealt with this a million times. I (until 2 weeks ago) was a claims handler for the third biggest insurer in NZ

point to note. Speeding cant be proved in court therefore the argument is invalid. Do you know who he is insured with and what his rego is? Ive got freinds in high places and I might be able to help you out

*edit also worth noting that If he is at fault for the accident (which he is) all you do is get his details and lodge a claim with your insurer. they wont charge you an excess nor alter your premiums, they will fix your bike and then send a bill to the other company.
