Feel-good story of the day

Recently my Givi top box has become very difficult to lock and unlock to the point I bent both the keys so I took it back to Motorad on Monday and they arranged to get a new lock for me.

I went in to get it today and they installed the lock in front of me. When I came to ride home I realised theyd put it together wrong and could only get the key out when it was open (Easy to fix but not when Im at work). No worries Ill just leave it unlocked and ride home and fix it.

I got most of the way home (From Wakefield St to the roundabout you turn right at to get to the airport) and realised my top box wasnt on the back anymore.

So I retraced my steps all the way back to work then home again but didnt see any sign of it. Bugger time to buy a new one.

Then I checked my phone and was a message saying:
Hey paul your thing just fell off your motobike in front of us. We've got it for you, are at warehouse on tory street for next 20 mins or so if you wanna get it
Didnt recognise the number but since they knew my name assumed it was someone I knew.

Turns out since it was a warranty claim on the lock Motorad had printed another copy of the purchase receipt which had my details on it and left in in the box. As I couldnt lock it the random girls who had picked it up had been able to open it and been able to txt me.

Went back in and picked it up, barely even a scratch on it. They didnt even want anything to say thanks. Eventually managed to convince them to take $20.

Moral of the story, Ill be writing my number on the outside of it.

Just surprised me theres still some nice strangers about. I know theyll never read it here but thanks again anyway.

My Givi "wardrobe" topbox has an name and address panel on the side, you know, like them luggage labels on suitcases? Always been loath to fill it out- it's like telling strangers you aint at home! Just filled out a mobile number on it instead- for much the same same reasons as stated here! Also lets folk know I can be contacted if they want to tell me they just crushed me bike in a car park kind of honesty as well...

Actually it would have, it only affected its ability to lock not its ability to clip to the bracket. If theyd have done their job properly it would have fallen off locked closed and they would have had no ability to contact me.
