    Motorcycle Reportedly Crosses Centre Line

Later on Saturday Alice Ida Evans, 93, from Kaitaia, died in Kaitaia Hospital after the Toyota vehicle in which she was a front seat passenger and a Honda motorcycle collided on SH10 at Awanui about 5.45pm.

The driver and passenger on the motorcycle were taken to Kaitaia Hospital with serious injuries.

The motorcycle had been travelling in the opposite direction and had crossed the centre line, police said.

Taken from the herald web site..

I read this at the weekend. I found it hard to believe then, and still do, that a 93-year-old in a Toyota was on the correct side of the road. I know that sounds ageist, but I guess that's the cynic in me...

I thought that as well but then clicked she was a front seat passenger so the driver I thought may well be a tad younger than 93.

So because a motorcycle is involved it's not possible for it to be rider error?

The way I read your comment was because of the drivers age he wouldn't be on the correct side of the road and was at fault, this implied the motorcyclist was not at fault
